The Brian Lara Vision Collection embodies the journey of a<br />
living legend and a hero in the world of cricket. We set out<br />
to create a collection which represents the passion Brian<br />
Lara brought to the sport and the same held by supporters<br />
as he graced the fields. We pay homage to the game and<br />
monumental history making moments whilst marrying the<br />
sophistication and transition Brian Lara has made from the<br />
field to beyond. This collection started from a desire to give<br />
wearers a sense of pride, reminders that winning is always<br />
an option and becoming a legend always starts with a vision.<br />

important?<br />
Ferreira Optical for Literacy presents an opportunity for us to<br />
make reading exciting, learning interesting and development a<br />
natural progression. “Today a reader, tomorrow a leader…” We<br />
aim to raise the level of awareness of the importance of literacy<br />
and education.<br />
The power of literacy is not simply the ability to read and<br />
write, but more so a person’s capacity to apply these skills to<br />
effectively connect, interpret and discern the intricacies of the<br />
world in which they live. Our biggest and most valuable resource<br />
is our people. Investing in the youth is an invaluable contribution<br />
to our tomorrow. FOL for Literacy represents a bridge between<br />
recognition, comprehension and analysis.<br />
Let’s make literacy our key to success.<br />
Good eye care is a lifetime investment<br />
HERE ARE SOME TIPS TO HELP YOU PROTECT YOUR EYES.<br />
• Ensure that you get your eyes examined as regularly as advised by your optometrist. This<br />
will ensure that we detect, monitor and manage conditions that affect your eye sight.<br />
• Take regular breaks when reading or using the computer. For every 20 minutes of computer<br />
use look up at a distant object for 10 to 15 seconds, this will allow the eyes to rest.<br />
• Sit approximately three metres away from the television for best focal advantage. This will<br />
reduce strain on the eye muscles<br />
• Always ensure that rooms are well lit, especially when reading and using the computer. This<br />
will prevent squinting and straining the eyes to view your desired target.<br />
• Ensure that children hold reading material at 30 cm away from eyes, as this will reduce eye<br />
strain.<br />
Literacy Tips for Parents<br />
Parents and have a significant role to play in their<br />
children’s education. Through learning opportunities<br />
and support at home, learning can be fostered from an<br />
early age, right through to high school.<br />
Here are some simple tips:<br />
1. Make books important: Turn off the TV and devices<br />
and read for half an hour. Talk about what you are<br />
reading and/or read with your child, depending on<br />
the age group.<br />
2. Help with homework: You don’t need to be an expert<br />
on each task however you can support your child to<br />
think through how they should plan their time and<br />
complete tasks.<br />
3. Discuss the news: Talk to your children about local<br />
and national news events that are appropriate for<br />
their age. A strong vocabulary is important for oral<br />
language, reading and writing.<br />

The Vision Collection Launch<br />
The Brian Lara Vision Collection was officially launched on 17th May <strong>2018</strong>. Guests had the<br />
opportunity to hear first-hand about FOL’s newest collaboration; from inception to fruition<br />
and have a first look at the new Vision collection.
