Police Reports<br />

Use of a cellphone while driving leads to 3 charges<br />

Ana V. Soto, 38, of Zion, was<br />

charged with driving with a suspended<br />

driver’s license, operating<br />

an uninsured motor vehicle<br />

and the use of an electronic device<br />

while driving at 1:47 p.m.<br />

on July 9 in the intersection of<br />

McKinley Road and Mills Court<br />

in Lake Forest.<br />

Police conducted a traffic stop<br />

on a 2010 Chrysler van after observing<br />

the driver talking on her<br />

cell phone while operating a motor<br />

vehicle. When officers spoke<br />

to the driver, identified as Soto,<br />

they determined her driver’s license<br />

was suspended and she<br />

did not have insurance on the<br />

vehicle.<br />

Lake Forest:<br />

July 9:<br />

• Tyler W. Dezjuantra, 28, of<br />

Danville, Ill., was charged with<br />

driving with a suspended driver’s<br />

license, and Bruke A. Rashaid,<br />

29, of Danville, Ill., was charged<br />

with possession of cannabis and<br />

had a warrant out for his arrest,<br />

at 9:22 p.m. in the intersection<br />

of Route 60 and Academy<br />

Road. Police conducted a traffic<br />

stop on a white Buick sedan and<br />

spoke to the driver, identified as<br />

Dezjuantra. Officers determined<br />

Dezjuantra was driving on a suspended<br />

driver’s license. Officers<br />

on scene also smelled the odor<br />

of cannabis and, after asking<br />

Dezjuantra and the passenger,<br />

identified as Rashaid to exit the<br />

car, officers located a small bag<br />

of cannabis in Rashaid’s possession.<br />

Police also learned Rashaid<br />

had a valid warrant for his arrest<br />

outstanding from Peoria.<br />

July 7:<br />

• Rebecca E. Garcia, 22, of<br />

Lindenhurst, was charged with<br />

driving with a suspended driver’s<br />

license at 8:31 p.m. in the<br />

intersection of Deerpath Road<br />

and Western Avenue. Police on<br />

routine patrol conducted a traffic<br />

stop on a vehicle that displayed<br />

expired registration. When police<br />

spoke with the driver, identified<br />

as Garcia, they determined<br />

that Garcia was driving with a<br />

suspended license.<br />

Lake Bluff:<br />

July 7:<br />

• Two subjects were issued citations<br />

for violating beach curfew<br />

hours at 1:50 a.m. at Sunrise<br />

Beach.<br />

July 6:<br />

• A property damage accident<br />

was reported at 8:21 a.m. on W.<br />

Washington Avenue near Route<br />

41.<br />

• A subject was reported harassing<br />

an employee at 4:31 p.m. in<br />

the 900 block of Rockland Road.<br />

July 5:<br />

• A hit and run that occurred on<br />

July 4 and 12:15 p.m. was reported<br />

at 10:02 a.m.<br />

• Illinois registration plates were<br />

reported lost and/or missing at<br />

4:43 p.m. in the 400 block of<br />

Skokie Highway.<br />

• A dispute between an owner<br />

and employee was reported at<br />

6:55 p.m. in the 0-100 block of<br />

E. Scranton Avenue. Officers<br />

spoke with the owner, who was<br />

the complainant, who stated he<br />

and an employee had an argument<br />

and he terminated his employee.<br />

The employee remained<br />

on the property, and the owner<br />

wanted him to leave. Upon arrival,<br />

officers met with the employee<br />

who then agreed to leave.<br />

• A driver was charged with driving<br />

with a suspended driver’s license<br />

and operating a motor vehicle<br />

with suspended registration<br />

for a mandatory insurance violation<br />

at 10:30 p.m. on Route 176.<br />

July 4<br />

• A vehicle was reported striking<br />

a bicyclist at 11:18 a.m. in the<br />

intersection of E. Prospect Avenue<br />

and Simpson Avenue. The<br />

driver of the bicycle was transported<br />

to Lake Forest ER by ambulance.<br />

• Officers assisted in finding a<br />

person who was separated from<br />

family during the parade at<br />

12:28 p.m.<br />

• A black folding bicycle was reported<br />

stolen at 3:19 at the Public<br />

Safety Building.<br />

• A delayed report of two minor,<br />

two vehicle accidents involving<br />

a blue Land Rover parked on<br />

the 300 block of E. Witchwood<br />

Lane at approximately noon. The<br />

complainant stated she struck<br />

the Land Rover while driving<br />

westbound on East Witchwood<br />

Lane and then a second vehicle,<br />

described as a tan Ford SE Hybrid<br />

also struck the vehicle without<br />

stopping while she was still<br />

on location. The officer located<br />

the owner of the parked vehicle<br />

at his residence to determine<br />

whether a Traffic Crash Report<br />

was needed. The owner of the<br />

vehicle requested an informal<br />

exchange of information with<br />

the complainant and no formal<br />

traffic crash report at this time.<br />

Officer provided both known<br />

parties with the incident number<br />

and added photos obtained<br />

to the case for future reference if<br />

needed.<br />

July 3:<br />

• Electronic harassment was reported<br />

at 3:48 p.m. in the 300<br />

block of W. Washington Avenue.<br />

The complainant stated he was<br />

receiving threatening messages<br />

via an application on his phone.<br />

July 2:<br />

• Physical threats were received<br />

via text message and were reported<br />

at 11:50 a.m. from a complainant<br />

on Sylvan Road. The<br />

complainant requested the incident<br />

be documented with the police<br />

department and no enforcement<br />

at the time.<br />

• A property damage accident<br />

was reported at 1:48 p.m. in the<br />

intersection of Carriage Park<br />

Lane and Waukegan Road.<br />

• A property damage accident<br />

was reported at 4:14 p.m. in the<br />

intersection of Route 43 and<br />

Route 176. While on patrol, an<br />

officer observed a two vehicles<br />

stopped in traffic. The officer determined<br />

the vehicles had been<br />

involved in a minor accident<br />

with no injuries and advised the<br />

vehicles to relocate to the rear of<br />

Carriage Way Shopping Center.<br />

July 1:<br />

• Retail theft was reported at<br />

3:44 p.m. in the 900 block of<br />

Rockland Road. Officers responded<br />

a report of a vehicle<br />

leaving the parking lot after the<br />

driver had committed retail theft.<br />

Officers located the vehicle and<br />

conducted a traffic stop. Officers<br />

conducted an investigation of the<br />

retail theft, and a show up was<br />

conducted by the complainant<br />

were the suspect was positively<br />

identified. Officers placed the<br />

subject in custody for retail theft<br />

and for no valid driver’s license.<br />

The reported loss is less than<br />

$300.<br />

June 29:<br />

• A property damage accident<br />

was reported at 10:24 a.m. in the<br />

intersection of Walnut Avenue<br />

and E. North Avenue. A officer<br />

met with one driver who stated<br />

her vehicle crashed into a parked<br />

and unoccupied vehicle. The<br />

driver advised she leave a note<br />

with her information, and did not<br />

wish to file a report at this time.<br />

The officer attempted to locate<br />

the owner of the parked vehicle<br />

with negative results. The officer<br />

provided a business card<br />

with the incident number to the<br />

driver on scene and left a business<br />

card for the parked vehicle<br />

under the windshield wiper. The<br />

officer will complete a full report<br />

pending the decision from the<br />

registered owner of the parked<br />

vehicle.<br />

• A driver was charged with driving<br />

with no valid driver’s license<br />

and one red tail light out at 10:59<br />

p.m. on Route 41.<br />

June 28:<br />

• A two-vehicle accident was<br />

reported at 6:16 p.m. on Route<br />

176.<br />

June 27:<br />

• A large tree reportedly fell on<br />

a house at 9:12 a.m. in the 500<br />

block of E. Scranton Avenue.<br />

The homeowner stated she was<br />

upstairs and witnessed the tree<br />

fall on the house, but did not hear<br />

a noise. The Lake Bluff Fire department<br />

and Building and Zoning<br />

Department responded.<br />

June 26:<br />

• A two-vehicle property damage<br />

accident was reported at 11:58<br />

a.m. in the intersection of Route<br />

176 and Skokie Valley Road.<br />

• A two-vehicle property damage<br />

accident was reported at noon at<br />

the intersection of W. Scranton<br />

Avenue and Mawman Avenue.<br />

Unit No. 1 was cited for failure<br />

to reduce speed to avoid and accident.<br />

• An item ordered on eBay was<br />

reported stolen at 2:41 p.m. at<br />

the Public Safety Building. The<br />

reported loss is less than $300.<br />

June 25:<br />

• Burglary to a garage was reported<br />

delayed at 8:56 a.m. in the<br />

400 block of Oak Ridge Court.<br />

The report was made after a bicycle<br />

was seen missing.<br />

June 24:<br />

• Twenty four Blu-Ray DVD’s<br />

were reported stolen at 10:20<br />

a.m. in the 900 block of Rockland<br />

Road. A officer met with the<br />

Loss Prevention regarding the<br />

theft of 24 Blu-Ray DVDs that<br />

were stolen on June 23. The theft<br />

was caught on surveillance footage<br />

and the officer will attempt<br />

to identify the offender. The reported<br />

loss is less than $300.<br />
