Fire
When incorporated in a built-up roofing system with
one of the surface finishes described in Part iii of
Table A5 of Appendix A of Approved Document B of
the Building Regulations (England and Wales) the
roof is deemed EXT F.A.A.
Surface Finishes:
(a) Bitumen-bedded stone chippings covering
the whole surface to a depth of not less than
12.5mm.
(b) Bitumen-bedded tiles of a non combustible
material.
(c) Sand and cement screed.
(d) Macadam.

in relation to fire please refer to the relevant BBA
certificate.
Biological
The material is not susceptible to insect attack or
pest damage and is unaffected by fungi, moss,
lichen, moulds or bacteria.
Thermal
The material is unaffected by freeze / thaw cycling.
It will support temperatures from -10ºC to 90ºC
without damage.
Compatibility
The material is compatible with all materials
normally used in roofing structures and finishes and
may be cut and formed using techniques described
in BS747: 2004. There are no harmful side effects
associated with this material. Hydrocarbon solvent
based products, such as naptha, paraffin and
creosote will have a harmful effect and should
not be allowed to come into contact with the
material.
Durability
Correctly installed and maintained, systems
incorporating Proflex 250 Sand may be expected to
last 30 years.
Liquids
The material is impervious to water.
QUALITY ASSURANCE
Proflex 250 is manufactured under a Quality
Management System approved to ISO 9001: 2000
by BSI Quality Assurance.

DELIVERY AND STORAGE
Proflex 250 Sand roofing membranes are delivered
on a pallet in a strong weatherproof shrink wrapped
bag. These materials should, when removed from
pallets, be stored upright on a firm flat surface, kept
dry and protected from mechanical damage and heat
sources.

material for specific applications. Test data and
samples may be obtained from Icopal on request.
