Especially for you...
It can be tricky trying to work out what our
readers really want, however this month we’re
happy to announce that we’re going to deliver
exactly what you’ve been asking for
Spurred on by the words of the song, “tell me what you want,
what you really, really want..” the team at PSI is always
happy to discuss what we cover in the magazine and how
we deliver the content to you. In this modern world it’s not
acceptable to just print and circulate a monthly magazine, we
also need a website and an app and a social media presence.
The website, was a difficult proposition to get up and running
because when you have an established trade magazine the
problem was always finding a way that the two disciplines
complement each other rather than just repeating content or
having one feature items that did not stand up for inclusion in the
other. However, we think we’ve got the mix right on that score
and both are now working well alongside each other.
We have an app that allows you to read the magazine on your
remote device and we have social media accounts with the major
ones that people have told us they use.
I’m a firm believer that a magazine should deliver what its
audience asks for, which is why many of you will have been
approached at events like the NSI Summit and IFSEC for your
opinion on the type of angles/features you would like to see us
cover. We also carried out some research to see which sections of
the magazine were most/least popular. As a result of all of that
we have honed the magazine over the years, bringing back
testing, adding in the occasional tool test (because you don’t just
buy security technology after all) and we also started to cover the
business side of running a security installation company and
interviewing installers rather than focussing on manufacturers
and distributors. So what’s next?
One of the subjects that keeps cropping up is “why don’t you
run your own event aimed solely at installers?” which is
something we have thought about for a while. The security
market already has the massive IFSEC on the calendar along with
NSI Summit and various roadshows and distributor events, but
the request for an installer only show, based in the North of
England, never goes away. Your wish is our command.
Elsewhere in this edition you’ll find the full details of the
security industry’s newest event Security Installer Xtra (or SIX for
brevity) to be held over two days in Manchester late next year.
We’ll be tagging on the PSI Premier Awards Dinner to the first
night and adding further attractions as the date gets closer.
With an exhibition, a conference programme dealing with
installer-led issues, an awards night and more yet to be
announced we’re ticking all of the boxes with SIX.
See you there!
