Grades 6 th -8 th : Eating for Health and Beauty<br />

(Designed with the Girl Scouts Eating for Beauty requirements in mind)<br />

Overview:<br />

This is a brief outline that will guide Girl Scout Cadette Troop to earn their Eating for Beauty Badge. <strong>The</strong><br />

recipes we have selected as PRIMARY and SECONDARY recipes are suggestions only, but the<br />

activities should be followed as these will help to mirror the steps that the troop must perform to earn<br />

their official GS Badge.<br />

Objectives:<br />

<strong>The</strong> objective of the outline is to help troops meet their badge requirements using high quality and healthy activities listed<br />

below.<br />

Activities:<br />

· Explore what makes some food ‘junk food<br />

· Hand Out Food Log and Go over how to use it<br />

· Learn what Antioxidant foods are and how they benefit the body including your skin<br />

· Create an Antioxidant rich recipe<br />

· Explore how sugar can be hidden in many foods<br />

· Create a low-sugar drink<br />

· Identify what types of food could affect sleep in a negative or positive way<br />

· Provide a list of Healthy Quick Snacks<br />

· Create an Energy Packed Recipe<br />

· Cutting Safety Guide Worksheet (“Bear Claw Method”)<br />

· Anti-Oxidant Rich Foods List<br />

Students will have successfully completed all steps and earned their cooking badge.<br />
