POLICIES AND PROCEDURES MANUAL<br />
Morning Star Baptist Church<br />

(2/3) vote of the Voting Membership (as provided under Article V (Constitution <strong>and</strong> Bylaws))<br />
in attendance at the meeting in which the Pastor’s status is in question will be required to<br />
force the Pastor’s resignation.<br />
3. Deacons<br />
a. Accountable to: Chairman of the Board of Deacons/Pastor/Congregation<br />
b. Principal Function: The Deacons are the helpers of the Pastor (Acts 6:1-7) <strong>and</strong><br />
are accountable to the Pastor <strong>and</strong> church.<br />
c. Selection: The Pastor will deem the appropriate number of Deacons to<br />
constitute the deaconship (not less than twelve (12)) of this Church. Act 6:3-4 “ 3 Brothers<br />
<strong>and</strong> sisters, choose seven men from among you who are known to be full of the Spirit <strong>and</strong><br />
wisdom. We will turn this responsibility over to them 4 <strong>and</strong> will give our attention to prayer <strong>and</strong><br />
the ministry of the word." Because the Deacons are accountable to the Pastor, they are to be<br />
appointed <strong>and</strong> approved by the Pastor <strong>and</strong> Congregation.<br />
1) Newly appointed Deacons shall be voted upon by the membership to serve<br />
for a period of three years (appointment/selection as Deacon is not a permanent or life-time<br />
position). After three years, a Deacon can succeed himself.<br />
2) Currently serving Deacons shall be reviewed annually by the Pastor <strong>and</strong> the<br />
Church Council (See page 19, Section 9. Church Council) to assess their status. After<br />
review, any Deacon who is assessed as ineffective shall be counseled by the Pastor <strong>and</strong><br />
Chairman of the Deacon Board prior to their name being submitted before the church for<br />
consideration to move to an inactive status.<br />
3) Reasons for dismissal:<br />
a) failure to attend Deacon Meetings, Sunday School (II Timothy 2:15),<br />
Worship Services (Hebrews 10:25), Bible Study, Prayer Meeting, the Lord’s Supper (I<br />
Corinthians 11:17-34), <strong>and</strong> expected to Tithe (I Corinthians 16:2; Malachi 3:10); however,<br />
you must contribute at least $2,000.00 annually,<br />
