POLICIES AND PROCEDURES MANUAL Morning Star Baptist Church Gulfport, Mississippi 8) Be willing to perform other duties as assigned by the pastor. 9) Be prepared to be called upon if needed by the chairman. 10) Be Faithful, Available & Teachable (FAT). 11) Assist in creating a spiritual atmosphere within the church services. 12) Provide for the spiritual nourishment and enrichment of those members assigned to his deacon ministry. 13) Provide input to the Pastor for annual job performance evaluation of staff members. In the absence of a Pastor, conduct annual job performance evaluations of staff members. 14) The Deacons shall have other duties as may be assigned to them from time to time by the Pastor and as are described in the Constitution and Bylaws. 15) Faithfully attend business meetings, deacon board meetings, Sunday School, Bible Study, worship services, Lord’s Supper, and special events. 16) In the absence of a Pastor, it shall be the duty of the Deacons to assemble the members of the Church together in a business meeting to establish a time when the Church shall elect a Pastor and to give guidance to the Church in electing a Pastor. e. Quorum for an official Deacon Board Meeting 1) A Quorum for a meeting of the Board of Deacons is fifty percent of active deacons plus one. Any deacon meeting held without a quorum shall be of NO EFFECT. In the event of a lack of a quorum the Chairman, within two days following the meeting, may poll the Board of Deacons to act on issues that requires immediate action. A record of each deacon’s vote (date and time recorded) and the vote must be ratified at the next meeting when a quorum is present. 12 Adopted for Implementation by the membership, July 16, 2018
