8) He shall be prepared to be called upon if needed by the pastor.<br />
9) During any interim period when the Church is without a pastor, whether<br />
because by death, resignation, or severing of the Church/Pastor relationship, it is incumbent<br />
upon the Chairman of the Board of Deacons to call together the deacons as soon as<br />
possible for the following:<br />
a) nominate, on an interim basis, a regular ordained fundamental<br />
missionary Baptist minister to be in charge of the pulpit by taking care of the regular order of<br />
services whose duties shall end at the completion of that task;<br />
b) to call the Board of Deacons to nominate a Pastor Search Committee<br />
of seven (7) voting members whose duty shall be to supply the pulpit with a fundamental<br />
missionary Baptist minister to deliver a gospel message when the same is required;<br />
c) establish a date of a business meeting at which all nominations <strong>and</strong><br />
recommendations of the Pastor Search Committee shall be approved, altered, or rejected by<br />
the Voting Members of the Church.<br />
5. Trustees<br />
10) He shall be willing to perform other duties as requested by the pastor.<br />
a. Accountable to: Pastor, Board of Deacons <strong>and</strong> Congregation<br />
b. Principle Function: The Trustees serve as the legal representatives in all<br />
transactions related to the church. They hold title to the church property <strong>and</strong> they sign<br />
all documents related to the purchase, sale, mortgaging, or rental of church property after<br />
approval by the church in regular business session. Trustees should act only on the<br />
authority of church approval.<br />
c. Selection: The selection of Trustees to fill any vacancy shall be nominated<br />
by the pastor <strong>and</strong> members of the Board of Deacons, acting together, <strong>and</strong> they should<br />
come to a consensus of selecting one or more individuals to serve as Trustee(s) to be<br />
submitted to the Church for affirmation.<br />
