POLICIES AND PROCEDURES MANUAL Morning Star Baptist Church Gulfport, Mississippi 3. Inactive/Nonvoting Members a. Any Voting Member of this Church who neglects to attend worship services, and/or the observance of the Lord’s Supper of this Church for any consecutive three (3) months or for the same length of time fails to contribute of his/her means to support the ministry and Church shall be urged by the Pastor and Deacons to return to duty. If he/she fails to do so, following the fourth (4 th ) consecutive month, his/ her name shall be transferred automatically from the active (voting) membership roll to the inactive (nonvoting) memberships roll. b. Members whose name appears on the church roll and they regularly attend or have joined another church, or they have moved and permanently resides in another city, or they just cannot be found are expunged/removed from the church roll all together. c. Inactive members will be carried on the church rolls for one year after being moved into an inactive status. These individuals are bound by the following regulations: 1) They are prohibited from voting on any church issue or in any church election or holding any elected or appointed office/position in the church: 2) They are allowed to have their funeral at the church; however, the family must bear full financial responsibility for the repast. In addition, the church has no responsibility for providing a floral arrangement for the funeral or a financial contribution to the family (See Article VII, Miscellaneous, Section 17, Funerals). 3) Inactive members and members of their immediate household may be wed in the church; however, they must pay the full rental fee for usage of the church. (See Article VII, Miscellaneous, Section 16, Weddings). d. POLICIES AND PROCEDURES MANUAL Morning Star Baptist Church Gulfport, Mississippi 1) Inactive members may be restored to “Active” status by regularly attending worship services, the observance of the Lord’s Supper of this Church and financially supporting the church for three (3) consecutive months. 2) Financial envelopes and church records will be used to determine/verify the member’s financial support of the church. 4. Removal from the Roll a. Membership in this Church may be suspended or terminated by: 1) Letter of dismissal or transfer to another church of like faith; 2) By erasure upon evidence of membership in another church; b. Dropping from active membership roll for: 1) Failure to contribute; 2) Failure to attend worship services; 3) Causing discord/division amongst the membership, i.e. instituting a court case/suit against the Pastor, Board of Deacon, and/or Church: Proverbs 6:16-19; Matthew 18:15-19; Romans 16:27; 4) By personal written request; 5) By death; 6) By exclusion following church disciplinary action. c. At the Church’s discretion, inactive members may be removed from the membership on the affirmative vote of 60% of the members present and voting at any meeting of the members where such motion is presented for vote.
