e. The Personnel Committee comes together on an as-needed basis, but not<br />

less than twice annually.<br />

3. Pastor Search Committee<br />

a. Accountable: Board of Deacons<br />

b. Principle Function: The individuals who comprise the Search Committee<br />

literally hold the future of the church in their h<strong>and</strong>s. They should be people of the highest<br />

integrity <strong>and</strong> competence. Individuals who have given evidence of their commitment to the<br />

church <strong>and</strong> who have exhibited the highest expressions of sound judgment. They should be<br />

people that the church trusts. Those elected to serve should be representative of the church.<br />

c. Selection: The Pastor Search Committee shall consist of seven (7) members<br />

selected by the Board of Deacons <strong>and</strong> approved by the Congregation.<br />

d. Search Committee Guidelines: Established by the Deacons.<br />

e. Duties<br />

1) It shall be the duty of the Pastor Search Committee to seek a pastor in<br />

accordance with the wishes <strong>and</strong> needs of the church. The Pastor Search Committee shall<br />

have all reasonable expenses paid for by the church (correspondence <strong>and</strong> mailing, church<br />

visits, if applicable).<br />

2) Serve until the church votes approval of a new pastor.<br />

3) Lead the congregation to declare its expectations of the new pastor <strong>and</strong><br />

provisions regarding the support of the pastor <strong>and</strong> family.<br />
