7. Changes to the Constitution and Bylaws
a. The constitution may be amended or revised by a two-thirds majority vote at any
regular business meeting on the recommendation of the Deacons, provided two weeks’
notice of such proposed revision of amendment is given at five regular services. However,
Articles III, IV, and IX are not subject to amendment or revision.
b. Changes in the Bylaws may be made at any regular business meeting of the
Church provided each amendment shall have been presented in writing at a previous
business meeting and copies of the proposed amendment shall have been furnished to each
member present at the earlier meeting. Amendments to the Bylaws shall have a concurrence
of a majority of the members present and voting.
8. Annual Days
c. All Annual Days, except for the Annual Pastor’s Appreciation Service, shall be
observed or scheduled for the 10:30 a.m. Worship hour on Sunday mornings. The Annual
Pastor’s Appreciation Service shall be held during a special 10:30 a.m. or 3:00 p.m. service
on the second Sunday in October. Any other time must be approved by the Church.
b. Annual Day Committees, such as Black Heritage, Church Anniversary, Women
and Men Day Committees, will work with and follow established protocol for the 10:30 a.m.
Worship Services. For example, scheduling of Deacons, Ushers, Choirs, Calendar
Emphasis, Scripture Reading, and other preplanned activities and schedules of members
participation will be recognized by Annual Day Committees.
c. It is strongly recommended that a representative from the departments for
scheduling these components of the Worship Service (Deacons, Ushers, Choirs, Calendar
Emphasis, Scripture Reading, etc.) serve on the Annual Day Committee. In the spirit of
Christian harmony, the program order of service and participants must be approved by the
Pastor.
