Holy Ghost <strong>and</strong> wisdom (Acts 6:3)”. Their doctrine should be biblically sound <strong>and</strong> in line with<br />
the teachings of our church <strong>and</strong> denomination.<br />
b. Committees selected to recommend ministers or speakers should get the<br />
approval of the entire committee <strong>and</strong> Ministry prior to submitting the names to the Pastor for<br />
approval. Up to three names in order of preference may be submitted to the Pastor.<br />
Committees are encouraged to observe the guidelines approved by the church regarding<br />
honorariums (See page 59, Section 22, f. Honorariums for Guest Speakers) <strong>and</strong> be prayerful<br />
<strong>and</strong> seek God’s guidance in selecting speakers.<br />
c. The authority to select ministers <strong>and</strong> pastors to speak at Morning Star Baptist<br />
Church rests solely with the Pastor <strong>and</strong> only the Pastor can officially extend them an<br />
invitation. In the absence of a Pastor, the Board of Deacon have this authority.<br />
22. Term of Office<br />
a. All elected officers, departments heads, presidents, chairpersons, committees,<br />
<strong>and</strong> committee members shall serve for a period of two years. On December 31 st of the<br />
second year of the term of office, all positions shall be declared vacant. Prior to January 1 st ,<br />
the Board of Deacons shall make recommendations for the top two officer holders in all<br />
boards, auxiliaries, <strong>and</strong> departments <strong>and</strong> present them to the membership of the church for<br />
approval. All other offices will be filled by nominations from within the committee, ministry, or<br />
department. All office holders begin serving on January 1. A current office holder may<br />
succeed himself/herself if submitted by the Committee/Ministry <strong>and</strong> approved by the Board<br />
of Deacons <strong>and</strong> the membership of the church.<br />
b. The Pastor, Deacons, Trustees, the Director of the Board of Christian<br />
Education, the Director of Mission <strong>and</strong> Ministries <strong>and</strong> the Director of the Music Department<br />
may serve unlimited terms until such time as the church may see fit to remove them from<br />
office or they voluntarily resign.<br />
c. The Chairman of the Board of Deacons, Building <strong>and</strong> Grounds <strong>and</strong> Finance<br />
Committee are limited to serving two two-years (2) terms that run consecutively. After<br />
serving a maximum of four (4) straight years as chairman, he/she must vacate the office for<br />
