POLICIES AND PROCEDURES MANUAL Morning Star Baptist Church Gulfport, Mississippi g. Have a cooperative spirit. h. Attend leadership meetings as requested by the pastor, unless prior notice has been given. i. All leaders and staff should, as courtesy, notify the pastor, in advance, of activities of your ministry that involves members of this church. j. The Morning Star Baptist Church is your priority as it relates to other activities. Leaders and staff should not get involved in outside activities when such activities conflict with your responsibilities at Morning Star Baptist Church. k. When planning activities for your ministry or other activities, check the master calendar with the church secretary and contact the pastor to avoid conflicts with other activities. l. Leaders and staff are encouraged to take leadership training courses when such courses are offered. Those who refuse to participate in leadership training activities will be subject for re-evaluation as a church leader. m. Leaders and staff are expected to support annual church projects and programs with their presence and finances, such as, revivals, conferences, workshops, etc. n. Leaders and staff are expected to attend church business meetings. o. Leaders and staff are required to incorporate prayer in your ministry. p. Leaders and staff are expected to be in regular worship services (Sunday services, Sunday school and bible study) and are expected to Tithe (I Corinthians 16:2; Malachi 3:10); however, they must contribute at least $2,000.00 annually to hold appointed or selected positions. Annual giving exceptions will be made on an individual person by person consideration. II. CHURCH LEADERSHIP 1. Officers The Officers of Morning Star Baptist Church shall be: Pastor, Deacons, Treasurer, Financial Secretary, Church Clerk, and Trustees. 2. Pastor a. Accountable to: Board of Deacons and the Congregation b. Principle Function: To lead the church in spiritual growth by giving personal directions to its total ministry, working through all duly constituted officers and committees in promotion of the church program. c. Selection: The Pastor shall be called for an indefinite period by two-thirds (⅔) vote of the active members present in a duly authorized business meeting. The prospective pastor must be the unanimous recommendation of a Pastor Search Committee duly elected by the church. d. Fringe benefit package: The Pastor life insurance policy shall be divided equally (50/50) between the family and the church. 401K percentage shall be based on salary only, does not include fringe benefit. e. Duties and Responsibilities: 1) The Pastor shall be a spiritual leader of high Christian character and a duly ordained Baptist minister in full fellowship with the National Baptist Convention.
