What is the Work
Opportunity Tax Credit?
The Work Opportunity Tax
Credit (WOTC) is a Federal
tax credit available to
employers for hiring
individuals from certain
target groups who have
consistently faced significant
barriers to employment.
Why Use
Tax Alternatives?
The paperwork to claim
available tax credits can be
complex and time
consuming.
Tax Alternatives manages
these tasks efficiently. We
strive to minimize the impact
on your valuable time.
What does WOTC do?
WOTC helps targeted
workers move from economic
dependency into selfsufficiency
as they earn a
steady income and become
contributing taxpayers, while
participating employers are
able to reduce their income
tax liability.
Because we work on a contingency basis,
clients pay only when results are realized.
Three new ways to get into instant hot water.
One new way to get out of it.
006e3 SmartPlus-e system Hot-LinkPlus-e system LeakBreaker® with eLink
Get in to ECM high-efficiency instant hot water comfort
The ECM 006e3 circulator is engineered for hot water recirculation and uses up to 85% less energy. For use with
dedicated return lines, the SmartPlus-e system with our award-winning SmartPlug Instant Hot Water Control®,
learns hot water usage patterns and delivers hot water only when needed. No return line? The Hot-LinkPlus-e
system with the patented Hot-Link® valve delivers the same high-efficiency performance.
Get out of a potential leak disaster
Comfort and peace of mind go hand in hand. LeakBreaker® with eLink connectivity provides protection against
leak damage due to water heater failure. When it senses trouble, it shuts off the water heater’s incoming water
supply and alerts the homeowner via mobile text and email.
Plumbing products that are right for the job
Visit us online at www.tacocomfort.com and learn about our full line of hot water recirculation and flood
prevention products. Taco’s reputation for reliability, ease of installation, and support will bring you some
INDUSTRY NEWS
PHCC BEGINS TO STRUCTURE ASSOCIATION
HEALTH PLAN
PHCC National Association wishes to thank the almost 100
members who have participated in the Association Health Plan
Survey. We are reaching out to our members to estimate the
number of employers who would be interested in attaining
large group status and the cost reductions associated with that
status. These plans are envisioned to be especially beneficial
to small businesses and will also include sole proprietors
(working owners without other employees), their spouses, and
dependents. If you have not received the link to the survey,
contact your state PHCC office for assistance submitting your
interest in affordable health care.
UNFAIR UTILITY COMPETITION COMPLAIN
By Chuck White, Vice President of Regulatory Affairs
PHCC recently received a letter from a Virginia Beach contractor
member expressing concern about a utility provider offering
protection services for residential water service lines. The
notice was reportedly included with the utility’s monthly
billing, a marketing option most business owners do not have.
The PHCC Government Relations Committee has established a
sub-committee to review this situation and discuss actions that
may be pursued. PHCC has, for many years, taken seriously the
threat to small businesses that may not have the ability to push
back on these tactics.
WE KNOW
PLUMBING.
And we have the extensive
product line to prove it.
Whether bidding on future projects or providing
solutions for an urgent plumbing issue today,
it’s critical to know you have the right resources
in place. That’s why T&S offers a vast selection
of high-quality products that are easy to install
and built to perform for years to come. And with
a full assortment of in-stock items ready for
same-day shipping, it’s no wonder contractors
everywhere rely on T&S when it matters most.
Visit tsbrass.com and learn more about how we’re
partnering with contractors just like you.
EPA SEEKS TO REVISE WATER OF THE U.S. RULE
By Chuck White, Vice President of Regulatory Affairs
The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) is accepting
comments on a proposed rulemaking to revise the definitions
contained in the Waters of the U.S. rule. This 2015 rule has
been on hold pending litigation in multiple jurisdictions. EPA
is proposing to rescind the 2015 rule, seen by many as an overextension
of its authority, and reinstating the definitions and
rules that were in effect immediately prior to the 2015 rule’s
implementation date. PHCC is considering the implications of
this proposal with an eye toward filing appropriate comments of
the rule. Information on the rule may be found through the EPA
Portal or the published proposed rule may be read here.
PHCC CONTINUES TO PUSH CONGRESS
TO FOCUS ON CAREER AND TECHNICAL
EDUCATION
The Senate Health, Education Labor & Pensions Committee
approved a five-year reauthorization of the Carl D. Perkins Act
(Perkins Act) with modest incremental increases in funding. The
House passed reauthorization of the Perkins Act last year. The
full Senate will soon consider reauthorization. The Perkins
Act provides federal funding to support career and technical
education. PHCC President Laurie Crigler sent a letter to the
Members of the Senate HELP Committee - as well as the entire
Senate - urging their support for not only reauthorization, but
increased funding, as well. PHCC will continue to work with
Members of the House and Senate to ensure that the Perkins Act
is reauthorized.
