Caller reported her son's motor vehicle was struck by a woman driving a golf cart on Saturday at 7:34 p.m. at the Reedy Meadow Golf Course at 195 Summer St. Officer reported parties exchanged information and advised them to contact golf course management. A crash between a motorcycle and a car was reported on Sunday at 5:37 p.m. at 11 Crest Road and 379 Summer St. A hit and run motor vehicle crash was reported at 100 Market St. on Monday at 5:35 p.m. Complaints A larceny was reported on Friday at 6:45 p.m. at Amazon Books at 1115 Market St. A suspicious person was reported on Friday at 7:24 p.m. at Celebrating 200 Years! Police log 12 Stagecoach Lane. Caller said man came to the door saying he was locked out of his house and asked to use the telephone. She refused. She said he now appears to be breaking into the house at the end of the street. Officer reported resident is locked out of his home. Caller reported two vehicles were parked illegally at the end of Canterbury Road on Friday at 10:39 p.m. Officer reports traffic citation was issued. Security at MarketStreet reports a possibly drunk party was attempting to drive on Friday at 11:33 p.m. Officer reports party has a ride on the way. A disturbance was reported on Saturday at 12:55 a.m. at Kings Entertainment at 510 Market St. Property check requested on Saturday at 1:10 a.m. at 26 Pinewood Road. Officer reports all appears to be in order. Debris was reported at 683 Walnut St. and 9 Bluejay Road on Saturday at 1:18 a.m. Loud music reported on Saturday at 4:04 p.m. from the white house at 479 Main St. and 1 Perry Ave. Officer reports house is having a gathering. There is no music at this time. An 80-year-old man who fell at 12 Village Row needed assistance on Sunday at 9:55 p.m. Officer requested at 230 South Broadway, Apt. 205 on Tuesday at 7:23 a.m. Caller from that address reported an employee has been calling workers all night saying he wants to get into the office. Party is known from the Lincoln Police Department and has a mental health commitment pending. Last seen driving a maroon Honda Pilot on Monday. Caller reported a suspicious vehicle was parked in front of her home at 3 Cortland for several hours on Tuesday at 9:23 a.m. Officer reports car belongs to a private investigator. An unwanted party reported at 230 South Broadway on Tuesday at 1:40 p.m. Caller reported a former employee tried to gain access to the building. Officer reports party left prior to arrival. A well-being check was requested at 6 Kimball Lane on Tuesday at 3:18 p.m. Caller said she had been left alone at the Riverside Outpatient Center. Police report father of caller has arrived. A lift assist was requested from 18 Trickett Road on Wednesday at 2:30 a.m. A water break was reported on Willard Lane on Wednesday at 6:45 a.m. Town Water Department notified. Officer requested at 47 Beaver Ave. on Wednesday at 1:54 p.m. Caller reported landlord was on scene and would not leave. Officer spoke with parties and determined it was a landlord-tenant dispute. Caller reported a car has been parked for three days in front of 1 Locust St. with a broken windshield and other damage. Officer said owner was located at 820 Salem St. and moved car into the driveway. A lift assist was requested from 3 Evans Road on Thursday at 4:05 a.m. A well-being check was requested on Thursday at 12:11 p.m. at 11 Kingston Road. Officer spoke with wife who is taking her husband to the hospital. Suspicious persons were reported at 738 Salem St. on Thursday at 3:10 p.m. Officer reports possible use of controlled substances. Parking violation was reported at 2 Knoll Road on Thursday at 7:01 p.m. Caller reports vehicle is blocking his driveway. Vehicle reported blocking fire hydrant opposite 794 Summer St. on Thursday at 7:22 p.m. Medical Aid Medical aid requested on Tuesday at 5:33 p.m. from 203 Ross Drive. Caller reported a fall with arm and back injuries. Medical aid requested on Wednesday at 11 a.m. from 59 Center Village. Caller reported an 86-year-old woman fell and hurt her leg. Officer reports she was taken to the hospital. Caller reported a 76-year-old man fell in the garage at 415 Main St. on Wednesday at 4:46 p.m.
SEPTEMBER 6, 2018 Lynnfield native enrolled in Naval Academy’s Class of 2022 Lynnfield native Jared Simonelli was inducted into the U.S. Naval Academy’s Class of 2022. The Boston College High School graduate completed six weeks of basic midshipman training. About 1,200 candidates are selected annually for the Academy’s freshman class. Last year the Naval Academy received more than 16,000 applications for the Class of 2021. During this time, freshman have no access to TV, movies, the internet or music, and cell phone use is limited. They are only permitted to make three calls during the six weeks of training. The pressure and rigor of the first summer is designed to help freshman prepare for their first academic year at the Academy and the four years of challenge which awaits them. The new midshipmen learn basic skills in seamanship, navigation, damage control, sailing, and handling yard patrol craft. They also learn infantry drill and how to shoot 9 mm pistols and M-16 rifles. The Village Home and Garden Club seeks members The Village Home and Garden Club of Lynnfield is seeking new members for its 2018-2019 program year. This community and social group has been in part of Lynnfield for 60 years. From September to June, the club meets monthly to engage in a variety of home and garden projects and hear from guest lecturers. The group’s Program Committee has planned several events for the upcoming season including Tony Todesco: Creative Designs, Deb Trickett: Container Gardening, “All About You” event night, community activities, fundraisers and more. On Tuesday, Sept. 11, the club opens up the new season with a welcome reception for club members. Membership is $40.00 LHS annual field hockey car wash Obituary Alfred W. Guinard Jr., 80 PEABODY — Alfred W. Guinard Jr., 80, of Peabody and formerly of Lynn, died early Thursday morning at his home following a brief illness. He was the devoted husband of Catherine (Pawlicki) Guinard, with whom he shared more than 47 years of marriage. Born in Lynn, he was the son of the late Alfred W. Guinard Sr. and Salina (Paquette) Guinard. He was raised and educated in Lynn and upon marrying his wife, he moved to Peabody where he has lived for the past 47 years. Alfred served with the United States Navy during peacetime in the late 1950’s and early 1960 before his honorable discharge. He later worked as a machinist for General Electric at River Works in Lynn for more than 25 years before he retired. Alfred enjoyed cooking and was a movie buff of all genres, including science fiction, war movies and comedies. He loved animals and was an avid fan of all Boston’s professional sports teams: Bruins, Celtics, Red Sox and New England Patriots. Besides his loving wife, he is survived by his three children, Michael, Steven, and Kimberly; his brother, Gilbert; and by his devoted four grandchildren and a great-grandson. He was predeceased by his sister Patricia. Service information: At the request of the family, funeral services will be private. Elks “Most Valuable Student” Scholarship is seeking applicants Applications for the Elks National Foundation “Most Valuable Student” (MVS) Scholarship for 2018-2019 are now being accepted. Through the program, established in 1933, the nonprofit has helped thousands of students who needed financial assistance to fulfill their dreams of attending college. MVS scholars are outstanding students who are at or near the top of their class, active in school and community activities and recognized as leaders by their peers. Students will be judged on scholarship, leadership and financial need. Scholarships are available to any high school senior who is a U.S. citizen and will be attending a four-year college. Applicants do not have to be related to an Elks member. The Foundation awards more than $2.4 million annually in scholarships to 500 students nationwide. Male and female students compete separately for identical awards. There are two first place awards for $50,000 each; two second place awards for $40,000 each; two third place awards for $30,000 each; 14 fourth place awards for $20,000 each and 480 runner up awards for $4,000 each. The finalists will be notified in late April. Applications are available online only at enf.elks.org/mvs. For more information contact your local Elks lodge or your school’s guidance department.
