A PUBLICATION OF WAYNE BROTHERS INC.
SUMMER 2018
CIVIL & INFRASTRUCTURE | CONCRETE CONSTRUCTION | INDUSTRIAL CONTRACTING
by KEITH WAYNE
Our WBI “2040
Goal” has become
a central theme
around which we evaluate many of the opportunities
we encounter along our business planning trajectory.
You may recall when we established the “2040
Goal”, it was to guide our future business growth and
provide us a tool with which to measure the same.
With our progressive growth goals in mind, we are
fortunate to have recently completed the acquisition
of a business in nearby Denver, NC.
InteSpec Inc., is a small but valuable business
formed more than 15 years ago by Ken Fincham
PROCESS
and his wife Mary
Ann. The Fincham’s
were soon joined
by Don Miller and Rob Passour as shareholders to
help manage and direct the business. Since their
inception InteSpec has intentionally concentrated
their resources toward the installation of process
piping in multiple types of industrial settings.
Their primary clientele are Food and Beverage
manufacturer’s, but they also install multiple types of
integration systems for various industries. In fact, the
name InteSpec is derived from the manufacturing
terminology, “Integration Specialist”. This industry process defines
their primary business purpose.
Wayne Brothers, as an organization, had already evolved into a
holding company with subsidiary companies such as Preferred
Construction Supply. Now with the opportunity to acquire a wellrun
business such as InteSpec, the pieces were in place to make a
successful acquisition. With much thought and consideration, the
Board of Directors for Wayne Brothers Holdings (WBH) authorized
our Executive Team to engage the owners of InteSpec with the
intent to acquire their business.
It is certainly a pleasure to introduce to all our clients, associates
and vendors InteSpec Inc., as a subsidiary of Wayne Brothers
Holding Company. We are already successfully rolling out their
expanded service offerings to many of our legacy clients. This
acquisition will also support expanding our Industrial Contracting
Services such as machinery setting, millwright and specialty
foundations through the multiple scope approach for our clients.
Several of our industrial clients have given us good cause for
optimism with their early observations of the value we deliver
through this combined services contracting method.
Look for us to grow our Industrial Contracting Services business
through adding talent, applying our BIM modeling skills, and
investing additional capital in the extensive equipment resources
necessary to handle the multiple types of projects. We are confident
this group will become a significant growth driver in the coming
years. And, we believe our clients will be well served by allowing
us the latitude of engaging with their project teams in order to do
more at every job site.
BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT
THE SPEED
OF TRUSTED
GROWTH
I just completed the Leadership training class (as
did many of you) and learned that “trust” is such
an important part to Wayne Brothers’ success.
That trust, I believe, permeates throughout our
organization in that we all strive to “Do the right
thing” in our responsibilities. It is in that trust that
WBI accomplished great measures in the past six
months.
We closed our FY2018 in March with some of the
highest numbers in the company history (Revenue,
Backlog, and Profit). A great accomplishment by
everyone. The Business Development team says
“Thank You” to everyone in the field for helping
make our financial goals and striving to become the
number 1 construction services team. Our customers
appreciate it too.
In other news, we are now a member of the South
Carolina Chamber of Commerce and are participating
in their Workforce Development Board. As Keith
mentioned, WBH acquired InteSpec, Inc. at the
beginning of the 2018. Lastly, WBI entertained a
host of our best clients around the Wells Fargo
Championship with events that nurtured and built
relationships.
Our customers have been gracious with many
awarded projects. The Core Building Group secured
three manufacturing plants, a new data center
complex, a new baseball stadium and expanded
scope at our existing mission critical facilities sites.
Civil & Infrastructure Group picked up four projects,
a municipal infrastructure project, two multifamily
developments and additional work at our data
center sites. The Industrial Contracting Services
Group is busier than ever with projects in a couple
lumber mills, a chemical plant, a new office, large
manufacturing, and even a museum. The Equipment
Relocation and Setting Group has found its stride and
already has multiple jobs under its belt. Our prospects
for the future look great with some high profile
projects in the works and expanded scopes coming
at existing sites. If you thought we were busy since
the last newsletter, hold on Mr. Toad, its’ going to be a
wild ride.
MARKETING
We are in the process of hiring a Marketing
Coordinator to handle all the Web, Social Media,
Traditional marketing, and print mediums. Stay
tuned for the announcement as we are evaluating
candidates now.
The Industrial Contracting Services brochure is now
available. We have combined what use to be called
“Special Projects” with the equipment setting services
and the newly acquired company, InteSpec, Inc. into
one brochure. The combined advertisement highlights
the strength of all the scopes this group offers.
The Company Store is open and ready for business.
You should be able to find a wide variety of clothing &
accessories for the office and the field. The logos for
all companies are available. This is just the beginning
with more to come in the future. As a convenience, all
purchases are now process online via a debt/credit
card at checkout. Sorry, no more payroll deducts.
