How does it all work? 

Thea: There is a lot of prep that goes into each show, we 

spend time with the buyers, deciding the best deals and 

products for each show – we spend a lot of time looking 

at what colours the QVC customers love. We have a range 

of shows we select products for, anything from a 5 minute 

generic show to a one hour branded special. Once the 

products are selected the fun starts on getting all the 

products sent in, photographed, setting prices and getting 

everyone excited on our social media page thealou_orly.

What happens when you arrive on set ? 

Thea: We have to arrive on set at least 2 hours before a 

live show, this is so we can get glammed up, mic’d up and 

prepare for the show ahead. We help dress the set with the 

QVC team – receive our running agenda and prepare our 

model with the amazing colours and treatments for the 

show….We meet with the directors and producers to talk 

camera angles and demos. We have to wear clothes that 

match the collections we are selling that day so there are lots 

of costume changes from one pink outfit to the next until we 

get it right! 

Do you ever get nervous? 

Thea: I was really nervous the first show as it was all so new 

to us as because we are quite a confident duo everyone 

thought we have been doing it for a while, but I don’t really 

get nervous now, I do however get nervous about saying the 

wrong thing! The presenters are so friendly you feel like you 

can chat to them about anything – I have to remember I am 

on TV sometimes! I am passionate about the ORLY brand 

and truly believe that it is the best so I find it easy to talk 

about all our products - I love the adrenaline buzz and the 

brand reception to ORLY. 

Lou: The pressure is real, with live shows anything can go 

wrong so there are always nerves. Thea is my wingman, 

but the actual demo is down to me and it has to work – no 

mistakes – you cant hide a badly painted nail on air as the 

cameras ‘zoom’ in. We have an ear piece so the director can 

tell me if I’m not in the right position with the models hands 

or to hurry up or slow down the demo. 

Has anything ever happened behind the scenes – dish the 

dirt? 

Thea: Louise and I quite enjoy celebrity spotting behind the 

scenes! We have met Lulu and Lisa Snowdon recently who 

present their own shows! We are far too professional to ask 

for a selfie though! Ha ha

QVC 

Are you always live? 

Louise: Not always, sometimes we do a pre-record that we use 

within the segments. We tend to use these when we want to 

demonstrate something exciting. 

What happens during the live show? 

Thea: During the live show we are guided by the presenters who 

are fantastic at their jobs – they have to remember so much from 

codes, to prices to unique selling points often working on several 

different brands during an hour’s show – they make it look easy. 

Do you ever watch the shows back? 

Louise: We do watch the shows back to see how we can improve 

on introductions and demos, its always good to watch as you 

start to learn the best camera angles and which intros really sold 

the product. Sometimes we watch the shows back and have a 

giggle at whatever Thea's Catchphrase was on that show. There’s 

always one! Thea is the queen of the one liner for our products 

BB crème ‘lightens, Brightens and Whitens’ ORLY is the ‘Biggest 

Botttle in the business’ and my favourite when Thea is selling 

Spritz dry it’s as easy as ‘Spritz Spritz Spritz’ 

Have you ever had a sell out show? 

Thea: We do have sell out items and that is really satisfying as 

I put the items together it makes me happy that my colour and 

treatment choices are popular to the QVC customers! 

Whats QVC’s best seller? 

Thea: Our ‘Wow’ demo is ORLY Cutique which removes dead 

skin from the nail plate – we like to use Model Ali Bailey for our 

branded hours as not only is she beautiful with great hands and 

nails she also has lots of dead skin to remove from the nail plate – 

Which makes Louise happy! 

Louise: For colour the QVC customers love ORLY Rage and 

ORLY Country Club Khaki duo.

How do you think the love for ORLY has grown since QVC? 

Thea: Since being on QVC we have definitely felt the love for 

the Brand grow – we have gone from a niche salon professional 

brand to a brand that is now beamed into people’s homes on a 

weekly basis – our social media following has grown and we are 

now recognised as a leader in high end nail polish brands. 

Who spends the longest getting ready? 

Thea: I hate getting ready and leave it to the last minute, you 

have to apply so much make up under the bright lights I feel like I 

am in Amateur dramatics again!, but Louise has to get ready first 

as she has to prep the models 45 minutes before the show so we 

are the perfect team. There is no fighting over the mirror- Louise 

is the queen of the selfie whereas I hate having my picture taken 

– she normally talks me into it though!

whilst they were filming in Croatia. Tabitha Willett and Olivia Bentley were filming 

for MIC when Danielle, a Secret Spa professional, flew out to offer them ORLY manicures
