Andy and I thought the first half was very flat compared to our previous performances in the league. A few half chances, but we didn’t create anything to seriously trouble Warstones keeper. The number of free kicks in the half, did not help either team build any momentum. Half time could not have come early enough for us, because it gave us an opportunity to address a few things that we were not happy with. There were several issues that needed addressing, things we normally do well, we seemed for some reason to find hard to do. Also we needed to ask questions of some players, hoping we would get an immediate reaction in the second half. Unfortunately, our performance didn't improve enough, and we found ourselves 2-0 down after 15 minutes with half an hour left to play. Both goals came from poor defending, I am not saying the defence was at fault, we have set up this season to defend from the front, all 10 players have jobs to do and some of the players passed their responsibilities onto others, which is not on. On a positive note it was great to see the character shown from the lads and especially the two lads that were introduced from the substitutes bench, early in the second period. This gave us a much-needed spark all of a sudden we looked dangerous and could score with every attack. We managed to turn the game around and see out a 3 2 win. Great to see Swanny get off the mark for the season. The impact Daniel made was not unexpected, since I met him Dan has been an absolute pleasure to work with, he has so much experience for such a young player having played at such a high level at home in Italy, but in saying that he is more than eager to learn more. We are yet to see Daniel at his best, it always takes time to get up to speed when you have had just over 12 months without playing. It was also pleasing to give debuts to Ryan, Alex and Adam. Alex capping off his debut with a well struck effort and deserved equaliser. We must say that credit must go to Warstones in how they setup and played. They came here with nothing to lose and duly applied themselves in an entertaining cup tie. We will know where we have to travel too for the second round of the J.W. Hunt Cup later this month as Bilston Town play Alvechurch at Queen Street on Wednesday 26th September. We hope you enjoy the game Mooro 6
