2. HAVE GREAT EYE CONTACT<br />
Look the person in the eye; don’t be<br />
distracted by what is going on around<br />
you. Shakespeare said, “The eyes are<br />
the windows to the soul.” This is an<br />
opportunity for you to share a bit of<br />
yourself with every person you meet.<br />
Take the time to actually BE with the<br />
person you are meeting.<br />
When we don’t have great eye contact,<br />
it can send messages like: “You are not<br />
important”; “I want to be somewhere<br />
else”; “I am hiding something”, etc.<br />
How do you feel when someone does<br />
not have great eye contact with you?<br />
Note: Keep cultural diversity in mind and<br />
account for it. There are many cultures<br />
where direct eye contact is considered disrespectful,<br />
challenging and rude. In America,<br />
we are exposed to many cultures, so be<br />
sure not to judge someone’s actions and or<br />
behaviors if they are different from ours.<br />
They could very well have a different upbringing,<br />
environment and life experiences.<br />
