Five OSHA Outreach Trainer Programs Available
The OSHA Training Institute Education Center at CSUDH offers five OSHA Authorized Outreach Training
Programs in Construction, General Industry, Maritime Safety, Disaster Site Worker and Cal/OSHA
Outreach Training. If you have the required experience (requirements differ for each program) this can be
an excellent opportunity to become an Authorized Trainer for your company, or to build your own business.
Construction Industry Outreach Trainer
Required Course: OSHA #500 Trainer Course in OSHA Standards for
the Construction Industry
Prerequisite Course: Construction Industry - OSHA #510 OSHA
Standards for the Construction Industry
Requirements: OSHA #510 course completed within the last seven years
and five years of construction safety experience. A bachelor or higher
college degree in occupational safety and health or industrial hygiene by
an accredited college or university, a Certified Safety Professional (CSP)
or Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) designation in the applicable
training area may be substituted for two years of experience.
Trainer will be authorized to deliver 10 and 30 Hour OSHA
Training for the Construction Industry.
General Industry Outreach Trainer
Required Course: OSHA #501 Trainer Course in Occupational Safety and Health Standards
for General Industry
Prerequisite Course: OSHA #511 Occupational Safety and Health Standards for General Industry
Requirements: OSHA #511 course completed within the last seven years and five years of general industry
safety experience. A bachelor or higher college degree in occupational safety and health or industrial
hygiene by an accredited college or university, a Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or Certified Industrial
Hygienist (CIH) designation in the applicable training area may be substituted for two years of experience.
Trainer will be authorized to deliver 10 and 30 Hour OSHA Training for General Industry.
Cal/OSHA Endorsement to Teach 10 and 30 Hour OSHA Outreach Training
Requirements: Be a current authorized OSHA Outreach trainer or become an authorized OSHA
Outreach trainer within six (6) months after completing OSHA 5109 or 5119 course. Trainers should
note that the Cal/OSHA Partnership endorsement expires on the same date as their federal trainer
authorization. Candidates must have at least one year of verifiable safety and health experience with an
organization governed by Cal/OSHA standards. Outreach Trainers will be required to sign a “Statement
of Eligibility” form, prior to, or in their Cal/OSHA course.
