Introduction 

Also at this year’s Automechanika show, TEXA presents a number of important innovations. New solutions adding to the constant 

developments of its extraordinary diagnostic products and software which are unrivalled in the market. Ever more technologically advanced 

vehicles require solutions that are just as advanced. Let us take the driver assistance systems, also known as ADAS, as an example: from 

the simplest solutions, to what is known as autonomous driving, all vehicles are now equipped with these systems. 

In the last few years, TEXA has invested a lot in the development of a complete range of innovative, easy-to-use tools required for the 

calibration of the ADAS, alongside its diagnostic software. 

Always with regard to diagnosis, TEXA presents its new DoIP adapter for the diagnosis on vehicles that support the quick communication 

technologies based on the Internet Protocol. Another component that has experienced advanced technological evolutions in the past few 

years is the headlights. Increasingly “smart” LED solutions, interacting with other on-board systems, are now installed in all vehicle categories. 

To repair and adjust these new headlights, diagnosis capabilities are required more than ever. For this reason, TEXA has developed eLight, a 

particularly innovative solution that allows TEXA to extend its product range, becoming a key player in the industry of headlight adjustment 

tools. As regards the solutions for servicing A/C systems, the brand-new REC+ recovery unit for contaminated refrigerant and the solution 

for the remote control of KONFORT stations will soon be available for sale. 

Another state-of-the-art product, now ready for sale, is LASER EXAMINER, which is essential for a correct and certified measurement 

of the wear of brake discs and tires.The solutions for remote vehicle diagnosis are continuing their evolution as well, both technological 

and commercial. TEXA eTRUCK and TEXA CARe are increasingly becoming reference solutions to fight against the threat to independent 

servicing that is represented by the telematic and remote diagnostic systems installed and controlled directly by the manufacturers. 

TEXA continues growing, providing ever more advanced solutions to simplify repair activities on ever more complex vehicles: always looking

Main advantages 

Tilting reflective mirror 

The TEXA reflective mirror can be tilted 

manually and, thanks to the electronic spirit 

level, the possible unevenness of the surface 

is compensated in a very simple way, since 

the 90° angle between the vehicle and the 

calibration unit is always maintained. 

Panel height movement and adjustment 

The electrical movement of the calibration unit 

and the detection of distance from the ground 

allow the operator to position the panels 

perfectly according to the vehicle.

Structure positioning in relation 

to the vehicle 

The positioning of the RCCS with respect 

to the thrust axis of the vehicle is ensured 

by the combined targeting operation of two 

laser beams positioned on the sides of the 

vehicle and an additional laser positioned 

in the centre. This ensures perfect practical 

alignment for a professional camera and/or 

radar calibration. 

Self-centering clamps 

The big advantage is that the self-centering 

clamps grip the tire and not the rim. This 

guarantees the integrity of the rim and the 

easiness of positioning.

The software 

The great advantage of TEXA’s software is that 

the HELP sheets for the correct calibration 

of the vehicle have been designed for each 

individual vehicle, with dedicated images 

and detailed descriptions for each brand and 

model.

CHECKING THE WORKING SURFACE 

ATTENTION: Before proceeding with the check of the working surface, the digital level must be calibrated as described below: 

CALIBRATION OF THE DIGITAL LEVEL 

• Place the digital level on a flat surface and press the “ON/OFF” and “ZERO” buttons simultaneously, until the symbol “-1-” appears in the display; (1) 

• Press “ON/OFF” button. The symbol “-1-” will flash briefly and then the symbol “-2-” will appear in the display; (2) 

• Rotate the digital level by 180° and press the “ON/OFF” button. The symbol “-2-” will start flashing briefly; (3) 

• Once the symbol “-2-” has stopped flashing, the calibration of the level is complete; (4)

The EC Regulation No 661/2009 of 13 July 

2009 on the general safety of motor vehicles 

requires mandatory fitting of the following 

safety features: 

• Electronic Stability Control Systems on all 

vehicles (from 1 Nov 2011 for new types of 

vehicles and 1 Nov 2014 for all new vehicles) 

• Advanced Emergency Braking Systems. 

• Lane Departure Warning Systems on heavyduty 

vehicles (from 1 Nov 2013 for new types 

of vehicles and 1 Nov 2015 for all new vehicles) 

These measures will reduce fatal casualties in 

traffic by an estimated 5,000 per year.

The solution for “static” calibration 

The “STATIC” calibration must be done in the 

workshop using a proper alignment rig and 

the specific functionalities of TEXA IDC5 Self 

Diagnosis. 

The IDC5 software guides the operator step 

by step in the case of vehicles that carry out 

the self-calibration through on-road adaptation 

procedures. 

The ADAS TRUCK Kit includes: a measuring 

bar, panels divided by brand – dedicated to 

cameras and laser devices – that are essential 

for the correct alignment and calibration 

of WABCO, TRW and TRW/Knorr radars. 

The adjustment system also includes a set of 

clamps with laser pointer, a laser to adjust the

Diagnostics over Internet Protocol 

Electronics is evolving ever more rapidly and 

intensely. The number of electronic control 

units within a vehicle is constantly increasing, 

and their need to be (re)programmed requires

The first headlight alignment system 

with electronic diagnostics 

For many years vehicle headlights were relatively 

standard components. Recently, however, they 

have undergone rapid technological change and 

seen the introduction of halogen bulbs, xenon 

projectors and LED units. Laser technology is 

just around the corner. 

In their quest to improve safety, vehicle 

manufacturers are also focusing on the concept 

of “Intelligent Lighting”, as represented by AFS 

(Adaptive Front-lighting System) and GFHB 

(Glare Free High Beam). 

On top of this, headlights are now frequently 

connected to other electronic systems, 

including radar, camera and steering. Garages 

and PTI centres therefore need a modern 

headlight alignment system capable of working 

with the sophisticated technology that will soon 

appear. 

eLight is the most advanced headlight 

alignment system on the market today, and the 

first with integrated electronic diagnostics. 

eLight’s digital electronics use a built-in 

camera, a system of algorithms and integrated 

autodiagnostics to identify the type of headlight 

and to guarantee maximum precision of 

alignment. eLight can even produce a detailed 

report, based on digital analysis, to attach to 

the garage worksheet, and that is already fully 

compatible with the legislation governing PTI 

centres due to be introduced in 2021.

Two versions, the same excellence 

TEXA eLight comes in two versions, ONE and 

ONE-D. The differences between them concern 

the level of integration of the diagnostics, and 

are explained in the following pages. Both 

versions feature a casing made of aluminium, 

a material that combines the characteristics 

of precision machinability, strength and light 

weight essential to garage operations. They 

both also incorporate a powerful lithium battery 

that guarantees enough autonomy for the most 

intensive day’s work. eLight has been carefully 

designed for superb ergonomics and to make all 

kinds of headlight alignment procedures quick 

and easy. The generous Fresnel lens (340x200 

mm) is big enough to cater for the trend towards 

larger and more irregularly shaped headlights, 

as seen on the latest models. 


Integrated diagnostics, capable of identifying 

the type of headlight and recalling the relevant 

selective activation procedures, allow you 

to save up to 50% in the time needed to 

complete alignment procedures compared 

to conventional alignment systems. Where 

applicable, the integrated diagnostics also help 

by switching control units to “setting” mode. 

eLight comes with a CMOS camera and laser 

visor for maximum photometric precision 

according to the strictest specifications of 

vehicle manufacturers who can demand, for 

example, reading accuracy of +/- 0.1% vertically 

and +/- 0.2% horizontally. 

The system can also be mounted on rails, 

which are available as an accessory. eLight is 

made in Italy to TEXA’s acclaimed standards of 

strength and quality. 

An important extra: autodiagnostics 

Version ONE of eLight is designed to work 

with the AXONE Nemo or AXONE 5 diagnostic 

tool and a TEXA Navigator interface, and adds 

headlight alignment functionality for garages 

that already own these tools. You can use 

IDC5 software to extend the potential of your 

eLight and to dialogue with the control units 

of all the electronic systems connected to 

the headlights in order to identify errors, read 

parameters and change settings as necessary. 

In practice, eLight’s integrated autodiagnostic 

functionalities are added to those of your 

existing TEXA diagnostic tool. 

Version ONE-D differs in having its own 

display based on a bright 7 inch swivelling 

TFT touch screen. This version can therefore 

serve as a stand alone tool, using its own builtin 

diagnostics. To extend functionality even 

further, however, ONE-D can also be connected 

to an existing TEXA diagnostic tool for use as 

part of an integrated system.

recovery of the refrigerant, whatever its

Implemented in the KONFORT charging 

station software, an automated procedure

Laser caliper to measure disk wear 

and tire tread 

Safety and comfort while driving are ever more 

important and essential for drivers. The tests 

to be carried out regularly include checking the 

conditions of the wheel system. 

Tire tread wear also needs checking regularly. 

A reduced tread increases vehicle instability, 

makes the tire vulnerable to damage and can 

cause the driver to lose control in the rain due 

to aquaplaning. 

LASER EXAMINER is a small practical tool 

to objectively measure brake disk wear with 

an accuracy of a tenth of a millimetre without 

having to remove the wheel from the vehicle. 

You can also measure tire tread wear using a 

simple adapter.

Disk wear measurements 

When you press the button, it projects a laser 

beam transversally across the disk. A further 

click captures an image which is analyzed by a 

micro-camera. 

LASER EXAMINER processes measurements 

in real time and compares them with the 

predefined minimum value.
