Fly to Boston today. Overnight (2) North Boston, MA DAY 2 | Lexington/Concord/ Boston City Tour (B) Meet your local guide this morning and start with the Lexington and Concord Tour. It was here that the first shots of the Revolution were fired as the farmers took a stand against British oppression. Your guide will take you to North Bridge where the “shot heard ‘round the world” was fired. This afternoon visit Harvard Yard in Cambridge. Your guide will offer you insights about Harvard University and the students who go there. We continue touring in Boston where we learn about the different districts of the city including the Back Bay, Beacon Hill, Boston Common and visit America’s first public park, the Public Garden. See the Old Statehouse, once headquarters for English governors and later the site where the Declaration of Independence was read. Plus many more famous sites including the Old North Church. Enjoy dinner on your own at the popular Quincy Market. DAY 3 | Plymouth Touring/JFK Museum (B, D) Travel takes us to Plymouth, home of our Pilgrim Fathers and one of the country’s first settlements. See Plymouth Rock and enjoy a tour of Plymouth which also includes the Forefather’s Monument, the largest solid granite monument in the U.S. Visit the Pilgrim Hall Museum which houses an unmatched collection of Pilgrim possessions. Arrive in Hyannis for the John F. Kennedy Museum where we discover why he loved this place so, and how he spent his time on “the cape.” The day is topped off with a Lobster Dinner! Overnight (2) Hyannis, MA DAY 4 | Cape Cod Seashore/Provincetown/Sand Dune Tour (B, D) Travel Old King’s Highway, a scenic byway winding through centuries of Cape Cod history. View the Eastham Windmill, a Cape Cod Lighthouse and visit the Cape Cod National Seashore Visitor’s Center. “Land’s End” finds us at Provincetown—the extreme tip of the cape, where we take time to enjoy a lunch break and shopping. This afternoon we board SUV-type dune vehicles for a tour out on the protected lands of the Cape Cod National Seashore. Watch for wildlife and see the “dune shacks” where famous artists and writers worked. DAY 5 | New York City/ National 9/11 Museum (B) We are off to the Big Apple. This afternoon we visit the 9/11 Memorial & Museum which serves as the country’s principal institution concerned with remembering and documenting that historic day. Overnight New York, NY DAY 6 | NY City Tour/Statue of Liberty & Ellis Island This morning, we are greeted by a local guide who shares the highlights of New York City. See 5th Avenue, Rockefeller Center, Central Park, St. Patrick’s Cathedral, UN Building, an ethnic neighborhood, Wall Street & more. We then take the ferry from Battery Park to the Statue of Liberty & Ellis Island. Time will be given to see the statue up-close and to explore the Ellis Island Museum, which tells the stories of the immigrants who passed thru on their way to the American dream. Overnight (2) Philadelphia, PA DAY 7 | Valley Forge/ Independence Square (B, D) The Encampment at Valley Forge is the epic story of an army’s struggle to survive. Featured sites include the farmhouse that Washington used as headquarters, soldiers’ huts, and the Memorial Chapel & Arch. This afternoon, experience history where it happened as we visit the most historic square mile in the U.S.— Independence Square! On our walking tour we will see the Liberty Bell, Independence Hall, Betsy Ross House, Christ Church & more. We’ll end our day with a colonial-style dinner at the historic City Tavern which was established in 1773 and was declared as “the most genteel tavern in America” by John Adams.
