The Veteran In Support of The Tommy Atkins Centre 04 October 2018 THE SANDBAG TIMES WEEKLY NEWSPAPER F35 Lands On HMS Queen Elizabeth P4 1,2 Twice At Brands P7 ...And So It Continues Another Black Time For Veterans As Four More Lose The Fight The past week has been yet another ‘Black Week’ for the Veterans Community. Another four young men have taken their lives sadly increasing the number of Armed Forces Veterans who have taken their own lives to around 46 during 2018. It was reported this week that Adam Simcock, Fraser Stirling, Jamie Doyle and Matt Shilitto have all take their lives this week although at this time, further details cannot be released. Despite these ever-growing figures officials still maintain that figures are lower than the civilian community although it has been reported that the true figure is not known due to poor recording procedures. The Veterans Community are now demanding that the true size of the problem is revealed so the general public, government and MOD have an realistic plan to combat this very tragic issue, In addition, the Sandbag Times is asking the MOD and Government to cease using a comparison with the civilian statistics until the statement can be truly substantiated. This is causing unnecessary suffering to the families of those lost as well as frustration to the entire Veterans Community. We also feel that comparing statistics is also extremely inappropriate and insensitive. Any loss is a tragedy, civilian, military or veteran and to compare figures on such tragedies can be interpreted as a lack of consideration for the victims. We would like to express our deepest condolencies to the families and friends of our four brothers who died over the past week and as God to keep them safe.
