Warden’s Window
As we march into autumn with Advent only eight weeks away it is time to
consider our options for the immediate and long term needs of St Thomas’ Church.
Three things that currently occupy our minds are Accessibility, Comfort and
Climate as well as increased Storage.
We need to consider if St Thomas’ is as accessible or user friendly as it needs to
be for the future! We have issues with step access at the South entrance, the
accommodation of mobility support vehicles within the Nave as well as restricted
access to the Lady Chapel.
Comfort and climate. We are all aware of the
limitations of the current heating system. We
need to look at our options for creating a
heated environment suitable for a church
which is used most days of the week that is
cost and environmentally efficient as well as
sustainable for the short and long term.
Storage. We need to consider safe and
secure storage of the equipment and goods
currently located in the base of the tower and
the north east corner of the nave. Whilst some
equipment is used on a weekly basis for the
church and others for book stalls etc on an
occasional basis, increased storage would
improve both the layout and tidiness of our
church.
Over the coming weeks and months, we will
be looking at these issues to consider what
can be done to make St Thomas’ Market
Rasen a welcoming place for our worshipers
and visitors alike.
