airplanes…or go anywhere else. You are so
lucky, Grant.”
Grant did not look like he felt lucky. He
looked like he wished that he had never found
the map. “I sure don’t know how to return it,” he
said. “Because I have no idea who it belongs to.”
Li shook her head. “This is bad joss,” she
said. “I know Cong and I want to be in one of
your grandmother’s mystery books…but we want
it to be a pretend mystery, not a real one.
Especially a dangerous one.”
“Dangerous?” said Christina. She felt
goosebumps pimple up along her arms. “What
do you mean?”
Li pointed to the fortune cookie note.
“What do you think OR ELSE means?” she
asked. “It can’t mean anything good. It sounds
like a serious threat to me.”
“Maybe if we find the treasure, we can
return the treasure instead of the map?” Cong
suggested.
Grant looked shocked. “If I find any
treasure, I’m sure not returning it! Finders,
keepers, losers, weepers.”
Christina giggled. “Did Confucius say
that?”
