Known as The Insurance Research Lab for Better Homes, the house is “cocooned” by a galvanized steel framework. With partial funding from federal and provincial sources and the Insurance Bureau of Canada, “private sources had to be found to complete it,” Dr. Bartlett says. “Members of the steel industry donated the metal framework, and Pure Metal gave us an invaluable contribution by galvanizing all of the exposed beams, catwalks and supports for free,” Dr. Bartlett says.
