THE GOVERNMENT
AFFAIRS COUNCIL
By Anita Laruy, Director
The Chamber’s Government Affairs council was created to educate members
about what policies and laws are being considered and enacted, that will affect
them and their respective businesses.
During the political cycles, we hold luncheons
and other special meetings to afford members
the opportunity of meeting the candidates that
aspire to represent all of us at the local, state
and federal levels. During the off years,
especially when the Nevada legislature is in
session, we follow bills that affect businesses
and insure that our voice is heard either by
testifying in person or urging our members to
contact legislators to support or oppose a
particular bill.
If you are interested in the government or
political arena, join our Council which is
open to Chamber members. We are now
meeting every other month and do hold
special meetings when there is an important
issue that will affect all of our businesses.
For more information, feel free to call me
at 702-275-9761.
Do not forget to urge your friends, associates and
family members to vote in November. This is a
constitutionally given right
that we must all exercise.
