A Wonderful Staycation
By: Stu Cooper / Happy Adventures
As a New Yorker who lives on Long Island
right outside of the “Big Apple”, I can tell
you I take New York City for granted. Door to
door, from Broadway and 42 nd street, with no traffic, is 45 minutes from
where I live.
And I hardly ever go into “the City.” Perhaps once a year to a
Broadway play.
I know I should visit New York City more often, go to a world famous
museum, have lunch in Little Italy or Chinatown. But I just don’t.
I suspect it’s the same for all of you who live in Las Vegas. When was
the last time you were on “The Strip”? When was the last time you saw
a show on the Strip?
I come to town five or six times a year and even I don’t stay on the
Strip any more. And now you want me to pay for parking when I stay at
a strip hotel! I don’t think so.
That’s why I was pleasantly surprised when I escorted a New York
group to Las Vegas last month. We were a group of 125 and we all
stayed at the Luxor. I really got the chance, for the first time in a long
time to see a Vegas visit from a vacationer’s point of view.
And this group just loved Las Vegas and all that the Strip had to offer.
We even took the group to the Grand Canyon and the oohs and aahs
were wonderful to hear.
Sometimes a staycation is just what we need. There is so much to see
and do right where you live. Take that ride to the Grand Canyon if you
haven’t been there in a while.
Closer still is Utah and all the national parks there. I could go on and
on about all the offerings but you probably know them better than I do.
And when you want to travel out of town, perhaps on a “Bus to the
Boat” trip or that European cruise, give us a call at the Vegas Voyagers.
We are always here to answer your questions or help in your travel
plans. It’s what we do.
