MAGGIE PROJECT

The Maggi women empowerment
project was implemented via
the Constituency Councilor
Office and the Trinidad bases
manufacturers of the Maggi
product line. The project entailed
empowerment activities for
women with the express purpose
of building their capacity and
managing self-improvement and
home based enterprises. The
targeted population the women
from the Constituency was
selected based on their family
size and their economic status.
The women were exposed to
training session which focused on
nutrition and food preparation.
This project provided
opportunities for 50 women to
learn also urban style farming
(yard farming) and the rearing of
chickens.
All the participants received
hampers, plants and seedlings,
chickens and start up feed and
a certificate of participation
in the programme. Added to
the programme content was
the availability of psychosocial
support for women who were
facing family and relationship
challenges.
