EDITORIAL<br />
I’m a big fan of classic cinema. I love contemporary too, but some old<br />
greats – 12 Angry Men, for instance – have really stayed with me. I<br />
wonder how much that interest was first piqued back at Priory School,<br />
in English teacher Mr Voigt’s Film Club? Well, he’s running one still –<br />
again – today, in the Depot, and it felt a privilege to interview him.<br />
Michael Voigt is, of course, just one of the Depot’s many advocates. Carlotta Luke –<br />
who’s speaking on the subject this month at Paddock Studios – shares a new selection<br />
of her photographs. And our Film theme also, happily, coincides with Cinecity: we<br />
zoom in on Lindsay Anderson classic O Lucky Man!, and hear from superfan Graham<br />
Duff – who’s watched it, he says, more than thirty times.<br />
There’s also lots of fascinating filmmaking going on locally. Dead Good is a new indie<br />
film concerned with those strange days between a death and the funeral. Diving into<br />
the Wreck records testimony from recovered addicts. Amá tells the shocking story of<br />
what was done to a generation of Native American women. While Seaside Town brings<br />
football home to Newhaven.<br />
Of course, <strong>November</strong> in <strong>Lewes</strong> starts with a bang not a curtain. Whatever you’re<br />
up to on the 5th, remember to keep your pets safe and snug – so say Cliffe Vets –<br />
while the Bonfire knitters lay down their needles; and the shopkeepers and townsfolk<br />
