North Shore Bank recently
made a $2,500 donation to
the No Child Goes Hungry
weekend backpack program.
The initiative, which was the
idea of Dennis and Michele Feld
of Evans Flowers and Greenhouse
in 2017, provides students between
first and eighth grade
whose families qualify for free
school breakfast and lunch, with
backpacks containing enough
food and snacks for the weekend.
“Without the support of the
entire community and their
generous donations of backpacks,
food, money, time and
labor we would not be able to
maintain this program and the
city of Peabody would have at
least 270 of its children hungry
each weekend," said Peabody
School Committee member
Jarrod Hochman in a statement.
