with Hunter Nelson<br />
Hunter Nelson, 17, is a<br />
senior who plays point<br />
and wing for Sharks water<br />
polo.<br />
what first got you into<br />
water sports?<br />
I was playing different<br />
sports during elementary<br />
school and the beginning<br />
of middle school until I<br />
heard about water polo. I<br />
first tried it in grade six and<br />
grew to quickly love it.<br />
what do you enjoy<br />
most about it?<br />
My teammates. I love<br />
each and every one of them.<br />
We are all one big family.<br />
We all make each other better<br />
by working together in<br />
practices and games. It’s all<br />
about working as a team and<br />
not individual ideology.<br />
what’s some of the<br />
best advice you’ve<br />
received?<br />
Everyone that supports<br />
my endeavors tells me<br />
not to let people bring me<br />
down and to overcome obstacles.<br />
Being an entrepreneur,<br />
there is a magnitude<br />
of different obstacles that<br />
I run into but I work hard<br />
to overcome them to keep<br />
progressing forward. Just<br />
like in water polo this is<br />
how I have grown to where<br />
I am now.<br />
what are your plans<br />
for college?<br />
I want to attend a school<br />
that will further improve<br />
my entrepreneurial skills.<br />
I have applied to Babson<br />
College and am currently<br />
waiting to hear back.<br />
what will you miss<br />
most about this team?<br />
This team has been the<br />
closest second family I<br />
have ever had. Everyone is<br />
so friendly and willing to<br />
help each other get better<br />
and succeed. Once again I<br />
love each and every one of<br />
them, especially the ones<br />
that assist me.<br />
Do you have a favorite<br />
moment from this past<br />
season?<br />
My favorite moment this<br />
season would have to be our<br />
first playoff game at home<br />
earlier this month. We were<br />
playing Crescenta Valley<br />
and I scored two goals to<br />
keep us in the lead. Knowing<br />
that my hard work paid<br />
off throughout the season<br />
and then having an amazing<br />
last couple games really<br />
felt great.<br />
where would you say<br />
you improved most<br />
as a player from last<br />
season to this one?<br />
I knew this season would<br />
be my last with this great<br />
team. I devoted myself to<br />
work as hard as I could<br />
one-on-one with fellow<br />
teammates to become the<br />
best I could.<br />
what are your<br />
interests outside of<br />
water polo?<br />
Outside of water polo I run<br />
dave teel/22nd Century<br />
Media<br />
a national business where<br />
we ship live Maine lobster<br />
and other Maine seafood all<br />
over the country. Running a<br />
full-fledged business, working<br />
hard academically and<br />
playing water polo definitely<br />
keep me busy.<br />
what do you like<br />
about playing for coach<br />
Hayden Goldberg?<br />
He has been my coach<br />
since I started playing. Every<br />
year, I’m anxious for<br />
the fall water polo season<br />
to start as I don’t play any<br />
other time besides with my<br />
favorite coach, Hayden.<br />
who was your favorite<br />
athlete growing up?<br />
I’m a big hockey fan,<br />
being Canadian. I have always<br />
looked up to hockey<br />
legends such as Wayne<br />
Gretzky and many others.<br />
