Preschool - 6th Grade Information
By Mrs. Stock
Dear Parents,
Give thanks to the Lord for He is good, His love endures forever (Psalm 136).
I am reminded of this verse over and over again as the holiday season draws near. While there are many temporal
things we can be grateful for, the unending, unfailing, eternal love of Christ remains a constant through every
season of life whether good or bad. I pray that this truth is shared around dinner tables this Thanksgiving as families
reflect on the goodness of our God.
A few reminders
• There is no school this Wednesday, Thursday or Friday. We will be praying for safe travels, lots of laughter
and stuffed bellies (and turkeys)!
• Concerts begin November 30 th . Please see class newsletters for details
• November 30 th will be our toiletry collection for Love Our Community. Students are encouraged to bring in
items to donate and wear silly socks for the day:)
We are so thankful for our families. Have a blessed holiday!
Mrs. Jill Hardie (a local author) wrote “The Sparkle Box” children’s book and came to the 3 rd Grade Class on
Friday, November 16, to read the book to our students and to take part in a tea afterwards.
The Sparkle Box, an award-winning children’s
book has inspired thousands of people from
around the world to adopt a new Christmas
tradition that transforms the season with added
meaning and joy! The Sparkle Box is a heartwarming
story about a boy named Sam who discovers
a mysterious sparkle box in his home. His
parents tell him it’s a special gift called a Sparkle
Box that they will open together later, but they
need to fill it first. When Sam finally opens The
Sparkle Box on Christmas morning, he finds something he never expected! https://www.thesparklebox.com/
resources.aspx?sel=school
A special thank you goes to Mr. Slayman for generously providing a book for each third grader. Mrs. Hardie
has autographed each book, and talked with the students about how they can make their “Sparkle Box” be a
highlight event this Christmas season.
From Preschool to Sixth Grade - Many of the classes
will be holding a Thanksgiving Feast on Tuesday,
November 20. We know how yummy the food will be!
Thanks Mom and Dads for helping the classes to hold
this traditional holiday event.
Page 6
Fine Art News
LAST DAY TO ENTER IS NEXT MONDAY!
ART CONTEST: Any LCCS High School student can enter. Deadline for submission is
Monday, November 26 th . Students will visually interpret Jeremiah 17:7-8 in a work of
art, using media of their choice. Recommended size of art should be 11 x 14 or larger.
The winning masterpiece will be scaled to fit an office wall of 5’ tall by 7’ wide. The
main criteria is that the work captures the verse VERY well. The actual verse must be
incorporated in the art piece. If your masterpiece is chosen, you could earn $500.00.
The winning artist will reproduce their artwork onto a painted wall in the office of the
parent who is sponsoring this contest.
Hello High School Band Families!
As many of you know, the Fine Arts Booster Club is sponsoring a fundraiser in order
to raise money for new microphones and for a scholarship. The students were given
an information packet about it last week but I wanted to pass the information along to
you as well. Attached is a letter from the Fine Arts Booster Club that explains everything.
All orders are due by WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 28. Orders will be delivered to the
school on FRIDAY, DECEMBER 7.
Mrs. Starcher, Ms. Fiocca, and I have put together an incentive for our High School Students. Our goal is to sell
$2000 in product by the November 28th deadline. In order for us to reach that goal, we are asking each student
to sell 3 items. If we sell $2000 in products and an individual student sell two items, then they will qualify for
our morning celebration of coffee/tea and donuts, which will happen during the month of December. One thing
to keep in mind: students can sell items by having the person fill out the form in the ordering packet (and payment
collected); or they may order online at: https://www.supportyours.org/store/lcchs/welcome
Let’s do this Band Families!!
