Currituck Chamber News<br />
As <strong>2018</strong> comes to a close, we at the<br />
Currituck Chamber of Commerce are<br />
filled with gratitude for another fabulous<br />
year.<br />
November was filled with fun events,<br />
including our Annual Meeting and Awards<br />
Presentation with a delightful dinner at<br />
The Black Tartan Tap Room in Powells<br />
Point. Nearly 100 guests joined us to<br />
recognize special honorees who’ve made<br />
a positive impact in our community and<br />
have excelled in the areas of economic<br />
development, leadership, advocacy, business,<br />
and social or community services.<br />
We hosted a ribbon cutting ceremony for<br />
Foundations Child Development Center,<br />
a state of the art facility in the care of<br />
Moyock United Methodist Church.<br />
Camden County officials gathered to<br />
celebrate a dedication of Camden Sheriff’s<br />
Office new firing range November 8th in<br />
Shiloh, NC. Congratulations to the Camden<br />
County Sheriff’s Office for their newly<br />
constructed shooting range!<br />
We celebrated with a ribbon cutting at A<br />
Better Way Realty’s new location in Barco,<br />
featuring more space for agents and clients,<br />
including a play area for the children.<br />
Currituck Economic Development<br />
Director, Larry Lombardi, served as our<br />
guest speaker for our chamber breakfast<br />
roundtable this month. We discussed<br />
major projects for the area and Central<br />
Currituck County is now an “Opportunity<br />
Zone”. The county has created a Veterans<br />
Advisory Board and invites veteran<br />
owned to participate. Economic Development<br />
has a program featuring “Small<br />
Business Spotlight”. For more information<br />

awarded a Clean Energy Champion<br />
Award from Chambers for Innovation<br />
& Clean Energy and Conservatives for<br />
Clean Energy, and we congratulate fellow<br />
award winners.<br />
