Windermere residents Spencer<br />

Hilgenfeldt and Suyashi Singh received<br />

scholarships to help pursue their<br />

dreams of becoming doctors. Spencer<br />

was awarded the Legacy of Excellence<br />

Scholarship, which is up to $60,000.<br />

Suyashi won the Humanitarian<br />

Scholarship, which has an average<br />

award of $30,000. Both are now firstyear<br />

students at St. George’s University<br />

School of Medicine in Grenada, West<br />

Indies.<br />

Nicholas Samuda of Winter<br />

Garden performed with the Capital<br />

City Band at Tallahassee Community<br />

College. CCB has been an important<br />

part of TCC’s arts program for more<br />

than two decades. Nicholas is one of<br />

15 students to join the band this year.<br />

The group recently performed at the<br />

City of Tallahassee Winter Festival and<br />

Tallahassee Senior Center.<br />

St. Luke’s Methodist Women<br />

held its 37th annual bazaar/marketplace.<br />

Volunteers, crafters, bakers and<br />

many hard workers helped to make the<br />

event a huge success. Proceeds reached<br />

a total of $45,000, all of which will go<br />

to missions and charities nationally and<br />

internationally. Leftover Christmas crafts<br />

were used to decorate the Fisher House<br />

Orlando at the VA Medical Center in<br />

Lake Nona. Members of the group extend<br />

their thanks to everyone for their<br />

support and wish all a very joyous holiday<br />

season.<br />

More than $7,500 in cash and<br />

prizes was awarded to the winners of<br />

the Fusion Contests at the inaugural<br />

FusionFest, a free two-day celebration<br />

of Central Florida’s growing diversity.<br />

The Fusion Contest winners were selected<br />

by a panel of more than 30 judges,<br />

professionals and experts drawn from<br />

the community and representative of a<br />

wide variety of heritages. The winners<br />

were:<br />
