10 THE WEEKLY TIMES Wednesday 19 December, 2018 FREE Premier’s Gala Concert tickets now available for Lane Cove Seniors STAGE queen Marina Prior, Casey Donovan and multi- Golden guitar winner Adam Brand will lead the line-up for the highly anticipated Premier’s Gala Concerts during next year’s NSW Seniors Festival. Member for Lane Cove Anthony Roberts urged seniors to “get in quick to secure free tickets for the Concerts, a highlight of the Festival, which are now available through Ticketek.” “The NSW Government hosts the Premier’s Gala Concerts each year “to thank seniors for their contributions to our communities,” Mr Roberts said. “These concerts are hugely popular among our seniors for good reason. They provide a great opportunity for seniors to enjoy marvelous musical and variety acts from some of Australia’s best performers, have fun and meet new friends.” More than 30,000 older people are expected to attend the Premier’s Gala Concerts and Expo being held at the International Convention Centre in Darling Harbour during the Festival next February. Mr Roberts said the NSW Seniors Festival Expo “will include more than 50 interactive exhibitors and a comedy show, plus hundreds of locally run events in Lane Cove and across NSW during the Festival.” “The NSW Liberals & Nationals Government is proud to fund this year’s Festival, which will include a range of activities, concerts and events,” Mr Roberts added. “NSW Seniors Festival is the largest festival for seniors in the southern hemisphere and is expected to reach up to 500,000 people throughout NSW next year.” The Premier’s Gala Concerts are being held on Thursday February 14 and Friday February 15, 2019 and seniors can obtain their free tickets via Ticketek online at www.ticketek. com.au or by phone on 1300 130 613. NSW Seniors Festival will run from February 13 to 24, 2019. New police constables welcomed Lane Cove MP Anthony Roberts has welcomed six new probationary constables to the Ryde Police Local Area Command. The new probationary constables will be on the beat across the City of Ryde and the Hunters Hill municipality after recently graduating from the Goulburn Police Academy. Mr Roberts congratulated the new recruits and said he looked forward to the contribution they will make to community safety. “Community safety is absolutely paramount, and I am thrilled to welcome the new probationary constables to the community,” Mr Roberts said. “Becoming a sworn police officer is a tremendous honour. “The mere presence of a blue uniform puts our minds at ease, however, it also comes with enormous challenges. “As a community, we turn to the police in our worst hour and expect them to stand in harm’s way to prevent and disrupt criminal activity. “I commend our newest officers on making the decision to put the community’s safety above their own, and joining one of the proudest organisations in the State.” Minister for Police Troy Grant said the State Government is committed to fortify the force into the future with the recent investment of more than $583 million over four years to deliver 1500 extra police. “This will ensure we’re not only able to maintain the current level of service and protection the community expects, but can also meet emerging crime-trends head-on,” Mr Grant said “The security and safety of the people of NSW is a top priority for this Government and these latest Probationary Officers will be a great asset in helping to identify, disrupt and combat crime in the local community.” “They are about to embark on a tough but rewarding career. I am proud to welcome them into the NSW Police family, and I wish them all the best for their future policing careers,” Mr Roberts concluded. New South Wales Police Commissioner Mick Fuller APM said that it is a huge milestone for the recruits who have worked extremely hard over the past eight months. “They have already proven themselves physically and academically to reach this point and from Monday they will experience the reward of serving the community as a police officer,” he said. “For the next 12 months they will continue to study and learn what it truly means to wear the uniform at Police Area Commands and Police Districts across the state.” The Ryde Police Area Command welcomes the new recruits and wished them all the best for their future careers.
