You can now book online by visiting www.highcliffecoachholidays.co.uk 

You can check out further details online with drop off points and timings. Pick-up times are available by 

placing your selection in your basket - don't worry there's no commitment to buy! Due to the nature of our 

business all website bookings are provisional until confirmed by us. We ask you for your preferred seating 

allocation during the booking process and will confirm your seat numbers after you have booked. We shall 

try to meet your seating requirements where possible, but cannot guarantee this. 

Don’t worry - you can still book direct with a human being!! 

1. Telephone, visit the office or visit the website to check 

availability. 

2. We shall answer any questions you may have and arrange your 

pick-up point, pick-up time and seating. 

3. Full payment is required by debit card, cash, credit card or

Entrance tickets not included unless stated. All seats are sold on a first come, first served basis. We allocate seats on our excursions which will be 

honoured wherever possible. However, we reserve the right to change your seat should circumstances deem necessary. We will make every effort to carry 

out the programme and itineraries as advertised, but must reserve the right to cancel any excursion or alter routes, timings or stopping places without 

prior notice due to circumstances beyond our control. 

Cancellations & Refunds. If we are forced to cancel any excursion, a full refund will be made. In the event of a customer cancelling we shall apply 

charges in line with the scale below. Tickets cannot be transferred to future trips. 

More than 28 days notice - Full refund, 14 to 28 days notice - Less 25%, 7 to 13 days notice - Less 50%, Less than 7 days notice - No refund.

All bookings must be pre-booked - we cannot pick you up if you are not booked. 

For the vast majority of trips we aim to stay at the destination for around 4½ hours. We may have to alter timings if necessary due to 

operational reasons, but we always aim to give you the best day out. We want you to be happy !!

There is a lovely sense of history in Windsor. The magnificent castle dominates the 

town with the Royal connections drawing tourists from all over the world. Walk in the 

footsteps of Kings & Queens, see the famous Household Guards and enjoy strolling 

through the historic streets. Plenty of time to explore the castle if you wish but there 

is much more to the town. Beautifully positioned on the River Thames – great spot

of how life was on the ship – from a walk on the deck to a walk around the hull in the 

drydock. The superb new exhibition, Being Brunel, explores the life and legacy of 

Isambard Kingdom Brunel – one of the greatest engineers of the 1800s. Enjoy lunch

Swindon Designer Outlet Shopping & Train Museum ROUTE A 

Housed in the former Great Western Railway Works in the centre of Swindon, the 

McArthurGlen shopping centre has grown to house over 100 leading brand stores 

and restaurants – one of the largest covered designer outlets in Europe. Outlet 

stores sell at bargain prices up to 60% off. Shops include Gap, Marks & Spencer, 

Fiorelli, Jack Wills, Joules, Ecco, French Connection, Timberland, Body Shop, Ugg, 

Calvin Klein, and many more. For lunch choose from Carluccio’s, Ed’s Easy Diner,

Monday 4th 

Chichester & Arundel 

ROUTE B 

With a history dating back to Roman times and beyond, Chichester has much to 

offer the visitor. One of the best preserved Georgian cities, the broad streets are 

packed with listed buildings and plenty of good shops, restaurants and coffee 

shops – easy place to explore on foot. Take a break with a visit to the amazing 

Cathedral or the lovely Priory Park enclosed by the city walls. You have the option of 

spending some of the day in the charming town of Arundel. Delightfully located with 

an impressive castle and cathedral dominating the town and lovely old streets to 

stroll around. Great selection of places for lunch or welcome cup of tea and some 

quirky independent shops.

The Tower of London

Enjoy a great day out in London at the historic Tower of London where you will 

discover the history of a royal palace, an armoury and a powerful fortress. And its

Kew Gardens Orchid Festival

Come along for a lovely day out to Kew Gardens, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. 

Since the reopening of the iconic Temperate House – the largest Victorian 

glasshouse in the world, Kew is more popular than ever! Plenty to see at this 

fantastic destination including amazing treetop views from the spectacular Rhizotron 

and Xstrata walkway. With magnificent glasshouses and beautifully landscaped 

gardens, this once royal residence represents 250 years of historical gardens. You 

may like to enjoy a guided tour around the Gardens on the Kew Explorer land train 

and learn about Kew’s flora and fauna, historic buildings and vital conservation work.

Wednesday 6th 

Historic Guildford

This county town in Surrey has a vibrant historic centre retaining its traditional 

cobbled high street and riverside walks along the River Wey. The town has superb 

shopping with three covered shopping centres offering some of the best shopping in 

the county. There is also a wide choice of cafes, restaurants and bars. Plenty of 

history to explore around the town or why not take a river boat trip on the River Wey.

Sherborne and Dorset Villages

Sherborne is, perhaps, the most beautiful town in Dorset and has an abundance of 

medieval buildings, superb Abbey, world famous Schools and picturesque 

Almshouse. Sherborne has a lovely intimate atmosphere and is a delight to explore 

with an array of independent shops selling a variety of goods, including fashion 

boutiques and Art & Antique dealers. Enjoy lunch in the one of the cafes, restaurants 

or pubs before we leave the town for a tour back through some of the charming rural 

villages of the county. A great day out.

places. Whether you want to visit the magnificent Royal Pavilion, spend time on the

Worthing 

ROUTE A 

Worthing has become a popular destination with our customers for a day out. Rich in 

history, the town grew to become a firm favourite with the royal, the rich and the 

fashionable. The town centre and promenade are on the level making it ideal to 

explore the shops and pavement cafes. 


Friday 8th 

British Motor Museum 

ROUTE K 

Explore the world’s largest collection of historic British cars at this superb museum 

based at Gaydon in the heart of the West Midlands. There are over 300 British 

classics from the collections of the British Motor Industry Heritage Trust and the 

Jaguar Heritage Trust. Learn about the people behind the cars, the places they were 

built and hear the stories from the guides. Subject to availability on the day there are 

free guided tours plus interactive exhibits. See concept cars that never made it into 

production or some iconic famous firsts that are now Britain’s motoring icons and 

maybe reminisce over the first car you ever owned. Range of hot food and 

sandwiches available in the Junction 12 cafe. Price includes entrance. 


Monday 11th 

Gloucester 

ROUTE K 

Great day out to the historic city of Gloucester. With an amazing history dating back 

to the Romans and Anglo Saxons, right up to the modern day, the city is a joy to 

explore on foot. The 11th century Cathedral, resting place of King Edward II, has 

played a key part in English history as well as starring recently in the Harry Potter 

series of films and Doctor Who! The historic Gloucester Docks are just a short walk 

away with a dramatic waterfront, converted warehouses and an array of restaurants 

and bars. There are numerous museums and attractions including the Soldiers of 

Gloucestershire Museum, Gloucester City Museum and Art Gallery, Gloucester 

Waterways Museum and much more. 


Wednesday 13th 

Milestones Living History Museum 

ROUTE B 

This superb open-air style museum is housed in a massive modern building in 

Basingstoke. Step back in time for a glimpse of life from Victorian Times to the 

1930’s. Costumed characters and authentic displays offer a realistic portrayal of 

ordinary peoples lives through the ages with a network of streets, shops, village 

green and even a pub! Followed by free time at Festival Place. Terrific fun. 




Festival Place Shopping, Basingstoke 

ROUTE B 

Shoppers paradise. Hampshire’s regional shopping destination is located in the heart 

of Basingstoke. Home to over 165 retailers, 30 restaurants, bars and cafes and 

boasting an impressive fashion line up including Debenhams, GAP, Principles, Oasis, 

Jack Jones, Next, H & M, M&S and much more. This has become a very popular 

destination. Come and have a look. 


Thursday 14th 

Wadworth Brewery Tour – Devizes 

ROUTE C 

Enjoy a great day out to the historic county town of Devizes in Wiltshire. Lovely 

country scenery on route before arriving in the town with free time to find 

somewhere nice for lunch. Reboard the coach for the short journey to the brewery as 

we join the 2.00pm award-winning tour which lasts for around 2 to 2 1 ⁄2 hours. The 

19th century brewery is a striking building and a real landmark of the town. Discover 

the fascinating history of the firm and the evolution of the brewing process as well as 

seeing a collection of pub signs, still painted by hand and visit the Shire Horses who 

still deliver the beer locally – if they’re not out working! Of course, you will have the 

chance of a tasting. PLEASE NOTE – The tour involves climbing some steep stairs 

over 4 floors so is not suitable for all.

Thursday 14th 

Isle of Purbeck Pub Lunch & Drive 

ROUTE V 

Enjoy the beautiful coastal and countryside scenery of this wonderful part of Dorset 

with lunch in a traditional country pub. First, we head for the Halfway Inn close to 

Norden for a delicious pub lunch. This 16th century thatched pub has a lovely cosy 

atmosphere with stone walls, timber beamed ceilings and log burner fireplaces. With 

a good reputation for friendly service and the quality of the food – there is a choice 

of 4 Pub Classics for you to select from when you book. Local Sausages & Mash, 

Wholetail Scampi, Homecooked Ham & Eggs, Battered Fish & Chips or a Vegetarian 

option. Pudding is available on the day for an additional cost. Afterwards we head 

off to explore the region. Lovely day out. 


Friday 15th 

RAF London 

ROUTE A 

Following a multi-million pound redevelopment this popular museum has now 

re-opened for the visitor. As part of the redevelopment new permanent exhibitions 

including ‘RAF Stories: The First 100 Years, 1918-2018’ plus a new grassed ‘airfield’ 

in the centre of the site have opened. Only 6 miles from central London, the Royal 

Air Force Museum London offers FREE admission to all. The Museum houses a 

world-class collection of aircraft, aviation artefacts and memorabilia based at The 

Royal Air Force Museum’s London site at Hendon. There is plenty to see – more than 

enough for a days visit! There are different exhibitions in separate hangers which 

include Milestones of Flight, Bomber Hall, Battle of Britain Hall and Marine Craft 

Collection. There is much, much more plus an excellent restaurant and gift shop. 


Friday 15th 

Cotswolds Villages – Stow & Bourton 

ROUTE A 

The Cotswolds is one of the most beautiful and quintessentially ‘English’ areas of the 

country and is dotted with delightful towns and villages with distinctive limestone 

cottages. We tour through the area stopping at two of the best known towns – Stowon-the-Wold 

with its vast Market Square and an elegant array of Cotswold town 

houses, Antique shops, Art galleries and restaurants – and the delightful town of 

Bourton-on-the-Water with it’s charming low stone bridges over the River Windrush 

which runs through the town. 


Friday 15th 

Blenheim Palace – Oxfordshire 

ROUTE A 

Set in the Oxfordshire Cotswolds, awe-inspiring Blenheim Palace is one of the finest 

18th Century Baroque houses in Britain, built on a grand scale in 2100 acres of 

parkland landscaped by Capability Brown. Around the Palace there is a collection of 

stunning Formal Gardens including Water Terraces and the Secret Garden. Famously 

the birthplace of Winston Churchill and the setting for many feature films, the interior 

has a superb collection of tapestries, paintings, porcelain and furniture. Excellent gift 

shop, restaurants and cafes. Price includes entrance.

Oxford – City of Dreaming Spires 

ROUTE A 

Oxford, the ‘city of dreaming spires’ is steeped in a rich and fascinating history. 

Famous for its prestigious Oxford University, the city is very pedestrian friendly; a 

bustling cosmopolitan place with a lovely riverside setting and a lively mix of 

restaurants, bars and superb shopping. The Radcliffe Camera, Bodleian Library and 

Bridge of Sighs make up just a few of the famous picturesque buildings of Oxford. Its 

charming scenery has been the inspiration for many, including Lewis Carroll and 

J.R.R Tolkien. There are also many recognisable scenes from popular films such as 

Harry Potter and TV series, Inspector Morse. Come along for a great day out.

Saturday 16th 

Mountbatten Festival of Music at 

The Royal Albert Hall 

ROUTE A 

This annual event features the Massed Bands of Her Majesty’s Royal Marines and is 

one of the longest running events at the Royal Albert Hall. Over 150 musicians on 

stage displaying some of the world’s finest military musicians complete with 

spectacular lighting and images. The Festival sees the Royal Marines showcase their 

incredible musicianship and pageantry and features a wide range of musical styles, 

including music from the big screen and superb solo items, as well as the traditional 

marches and overtures that have proved such a hit with audiences over the years. 

Proceeds go to The Royal Marines Charity and CLIC Sargent. Open the door to an 

action-packed programme of music, We should arrive at the Royal Albert Hall in 

good time for you to have lunch inside or in the area. 2.00pm show. Proceeds go to

Monday 18th 

Basildon Park – National Trust 

ROUTE C 

Basildon Park is an impressive Georgian mansion located near to Pangbourne in 

Berkshire. This impressive Georgian mansion surrounded by glorious parkland was 

rescued from ruin by Lord and Lady Iliffe in the mid-1950s. They filled their 

comfortable new home with fine paintings, fabrics and furniture – Basildon Park now 

holds a collection of 17th-20th century English and European paintings, including 

Batoni and Anne Vallayer-Coster. Its handsome appearance made Basildon Park the 

ideal choice as one of the key locations in the acclaimed screen adaptation of Pride 

and Prejudice, starring Keira Knightley. Price includes entrance.

Tuesday 19th 

Portsmouth – Historic Dockyard OR 

Gunwharf Quays Shopping

Enjoy a great day out to Portsmouth. We drop close to the excellent Gunwharf 

Quays shopping and leisure development and the Historic Dockyard. Located on the 

harbour, Gunwharf is site of the impressive Spinnaker Tower and over 95 shopping 

outlets and 30 cafes and restaurants. Shops include Next Clearance, Animal, Fred 

Perry, Barbour, Levis, Karen Millen and many more. Boat trips also available from the 

marina. Alternatively, you can spend your day in the superb Historic Dockyard which 

traces the history of the Royal Navy over the ages. Attractions include Nelson’s 

HMS Victory, Henry VIII’s Mary Rose, HMS Warrioer 1860, Action Stations and much 

more. Entrance fees apply. 



Dorchester Market & Weymouth 

ROUTE Y 

Lovely day out as we visit our historic county town in the heart of ‘Hardy’s country 

and boasting elegant 18th century houses, interesting museums, good shopping 

and a great Market on Wednesdays. Afterwards we travel to Weymouth with time in 

this rejuvenated traditional seaside resort. The wide award winning three mile beach 

has beautiful sand and a level promenade with traditional facilities to enjoy. In the 

town there is a great selection of shops, restaurants, cafes and pubs. Head to the 

harbour lined by Georgian houses, grab some chips and watch the fishing boats.

West Bay Lunch – Station Kitchen Special

Come along for a lovely day out to one of our favourite spots on the Dorset Coast

constructed in local Ham stone and incorporates a National Portrait Gallery

Birdworld is located near Farnham in Surrey. Attractions around the park include

are more than 150 different species of birds, many of which are critically 

endangered, as well as a flock of pelicans on pelican island, one of the largest free 

flying parrot aviaries in the world, two flourishing penguin colonies, a seashore 

themed aviary and a birds of prey area. Underwater World, houses a variety of fish 

and reptiles including two rescued crocodiles. There is also a group of Hermann’s 

tortoises in the park, and many wild grey heron that are attracted by the fish fed to

Wells is one of Britain’s secret gems and a fabulous destination for a day out; proof 

that the country still has much to admire! Sheltered beneath the southern slopes of

Wells qualifies as England’s smallest, and Somerset’s only city because of its amazing 

12th century Cathedral. The wells, which gave the city its name, are located within 

the grounds of the Bishop's Palace, which is still the residence of the Bishop of Bath 

and Wells. Also of interest are Vicars’ Close, claimed to be the oldest complete 

medieval street in Europe, and the historic market place.

Cathedral combined with tranquil green spaces and an array of interesting

Friday 5th 

Devon & Dorset Drive with Roast Carvery

Lovely day out to enjoy the beautiful scenery of West Dorset and East Devon before 

stopping at the excellent Hare & Hounds Pub near Sidmouth. This traditional country 

pub has wooden beams and log fires with lovely views down towards Sidmouth and 

the sea. We have included a delicious carvery with an extensive choice of fresh 

vegetables, gravy and extras. Pudding is available on the day for an additional cost.

as the home of Downton Abbey. Created by Sir Charles Barry who also designed the 

Houses of Parliament, the castle has a magnificent library and drawing room with the 

highlight being The Saloon with its 50ft vaulted ceilings. Outside, you can explore 

the beautiful gardens and parkland. Tearoom on site & café for lunch – alternatively

Sudeley Castle & Gardens

Located in The Cotswolds, Sudeley Castle & Gardens is a popular visitor attraction 

with award-winning gardens. The castle has played an important role in history, with 

royal visitors including Richard III, Elizabeth I and Lady Jane Grey. The last of Henry 

VIII’s six wives, Katherine Parr lived and died in the castle. Inside, the castle contains 

many fascinating treasures including a collection of artefacts and works of art of 

great historical importance. The magnificent gardens are world-renowned, providing 

variety and colour from spring through to autumn. The centrepiece is the Queens 

Garden, so named because four of England’s queens – Anne Boleyn, Katherine Parr, 

Lady Jane Grey and Elizabeth I – once admired the hundreds of varieties of roses 

found in the garden. Facilities include a picnic area, gift shop and Terrace Café. 



Thursday 18th 

Horse Drawn Canal Boat & Marlborough 

ROUTE A 

Extended and improved. Step back in time with us, as we head first to one of our 

favourite stopping places, Marlborough. This archetypal English Market town has 

that ‘film location’ quality and is a great spot to stroll around and enjoy a nice lunch. 

In the afternoon we head to nearby Kintbury and board the ‘Kennet Valley’ horse 

drawn barge for a 2 ½ hour cruise along the beautiful Kennet & Avon Canal. This 

wide beam passenger boat was purpose built for carrying passengers and is 

powered solely by the towing action of the horse making for a tranquil journey. 

Facilities onboard include a well stocked bar serving tea, coffee, soft drinks and 

beverages. Whilst on board we have included a cup of tea & slice of cake for you! 

A lovely day out. 


Thursday 18th 

Van Gogh EY Exhibition – Tate Britain

One of the country’s great museums, holding the largest collection of British art in 

the world from 1500 to the present day. Located by the Thames in central London 

you can view masterpieces by Gainsborough, Hogarth, Millais, Whistler, as well as 

outstanding modern and contemporary artists such as Francis Bacon, Lucian Freud 

and Damien Hirst plus the largest collection of works by JMW Turner. When we visit 

there is a highly anticipated special exhibition of Vincent Van Gogh – bringing 

together 45 of his paintings including Shoes, Starry Night on the Rhone and

Forde Abbey & Gardens, Somerset

This superb former Medieval Abbey was founded by Cistercian Monks in 1140 and 

became one of the richest monasteries in the country. Set in the lovely Somerset 

countryside, the house is surrounded by 30 acres of award winning gardens 

described by Alan Titchmarsh as ‘One of the great gardens in the West Country’. 

The garden offers something for every season with Spring bulbs and Summer 

borders. Around the grounds there are sculptures and architectural features plus a 

cascade of lakes and the impressive Centenary Fountain, at 160ft the highest 

powered fountain in England. Inside you can discover the lives of monks in the 

fascinating Monastic Rooms whilst the house contains fine furniture and houses the 

ornate Mortlake tapestries. Head for the Undercroft Tearoom for delicious

Buscot Park & The Faringdon Collection

Wow! Undoubtably one of the best National Trust properties we have visited. 

Located in the Oxfordshire Cotswolds with extensive grounds, Buscot Park is the 

family home of Lord Faringdon. Built in the Italianate country houses style between 

1780 and 1783, the estate has a fascinating history which has left the estate with a 

remarkable legacy. There is a variety of attractions – from formal gardens to 

woodlands. There are plenty of lovely viewpoints and a selection of architectural 

sculptures adds interest to your visit. Don’t miss the stunning water gardens 

designed by Harold Peto. The house does not disappoint and houses the wonderful 

Faringdon Collection of fine paintings and furniture collected over a century. With 

paintings by Rembrandt, Reynolds, Rubens, van Dyck and Murillo and furniture by 

Robert Adams this is now a very important collection of works. Lovely tearoom on

Set in 200 acres of the Sussex High Weald with magnificent views across the Ouse 

Valley Viaduct. Described as ‘One of the country’s truly great gardens’ by Country

Italian Garden and much more. Enjoy a leisurely stroll along one of the woodland 

and lakeside walks. Excellent café, gift shop and plant sales too. Entrance included. 


Sunday 12th 

3 Liner Sailaway ROUTE & 

We are delighted to have secured space on this 3 liner Sailaway Special in 

Southampton Docks. We head to Southampton with free time in the WestQuay 

Centre before boarding one of the Blue Funnel Ferries to watch the magnificent 

Cruiseliners depart the port with a full commentary on their history as they head up 

Southampton’s waterway. Scheduled departure is 4.15pm for a 2 1 ⁄4 hour cruise – 

returning at 6.15pm. Please note that this schedule may be flexible on the day and 

there is the possibility that not all cruise ships will leave during the cruise. Light 

snacks & refreshments available on board. Ships scheduled to leave on this day will

A memorable day out. We board our River Boat at Chertsey at 11.00am and have a 

memorable 2 ¼ hour cruise with commentary up the River Thames through Sunbury 

Lock and passing lovely riverside properties, some formerly owned by such stars as 

Diana Dors. Approaching from the river gives a unique view of the Palace – we shall 

arrive at 1.15pm, departing at 4.15pm. Plenty of time to explore the magnificent 

Tudor Palace with its remarkable history, stroll around the gardens and view the 

world famous maze. We would recommend that you bring a packed lunch to have 

on the boat to make the most of your time at Hampton Court. Price includes boat

Hinton Ampner House & Gardens – National Trust ROUTE C 

Best known for its fine gardens, Hinton Ampner is an elegant country house with an 

outstanding collection of furniture, paintings and objets d’art set in lovely Hampshire 

countryside. The house was extensively remodelled after a traumatic fire in 1960 by 

its final owner, Ralph Dutton, 8th and last Lord Sherborne, who also created the 

gardens – widely acknowledged to be a masterpiece of 20th century garden design.

Godalming Horse Drawn Canal Boat with Cream Tea ROUTE C 

We head to the ancient market town of Godalming delightfully situated on the 

picturesque River Wey in South West Surrey. Plenty of time here for an extended 

lunch and time to enjoy the historic architecture of the town. Maybe take a stroll 

down charming Church Street to the church with the park beyond following the river. 

In the afternoon we board our horse drawn barge for a 2 hour cruise along the river. 

Sit back, relax and enjoy the sounds of the river on board the traditional canal boat 

powered solely by the towing action of the horse – a lovely tranquil journey. Facilities

Swanage Railway & The Purbecks

A treat for all ages. We board the beautifully restored Swanage Railway at Norden 

with views of Corfe Castle, for a nostalgic steam train ride through the beautiful 

Purbecks to Swanage. After enjoying some free time in this attractive seaside town, 

on the beach or exploring the shops, we return to Norden by train and head home.

Leonardslee Gardens, West Sussex

Having reopened to the public last Summer we are delighted to be returning to 

Leonardslee Gardens. Built in 1801 with breathtaking views of the English 

countryside and blooming displays of Rhododendrons, Azaleas, Camellias, 

Magnolias and Bluebells. Set in the steep-sided valley; the ponds contain a colony of 

Carp fish and the combination of parkland, lawn and forest land inhabits a rare 

colony of wallabies and a number of deer species who wander semi-freely 

throughout the estate. Wonderful day. Price includes entrance.

Dorchester Market & Weymouth 

ROUTE Y 

Lovely day out as we visit our historic county town in the heart of 'Hardy's country 

and boasting elegant 18th century houses, interesting museums, good shopping 

and a great Market on Wednesdays. Afterwards we travel to Weymouth with time in 

this rejuvenated traditional seaside resort. The wide award winning three mile beach 

has beautiful sand and a level promenade with traditional facilities to enjoy. In the 

town there is a great selection of shops, restaurants, cafes and pubs. Head to the 

harbour lined by Georgian houses, grab some chips and watch the fishing boats.

West Dean Gardens 

ROUTE C 

These award-winning gardens are beautifully situated north of Chichester with views 

over the surrounding South Downs. Owned by the Edward James Foundation the 

gardens were laid out in the 1890s and 1900s featuring a Victorian Walled Kitchen 

Garden, 300 foot-long Edwardian Pergola, naturalistic Spring Garden, Sunken 

Garden, Orchards and circular arboretum walk set in beautiful parkland. A huge 

variety of plants – from peaches to peppers, cucumbers to coleus, aubergines to 

orchids grow in the 16 glasshouses and frames. Homemade food and refreshments 

served in the Gardens Restaurant, alongside the Gift Shop. A wonderful day for the 

avid gardener. Price includes entrance. 



Nymans – National Trust 

ROUTE A 

In the late 19th century the creative Messel family bought the Nymans estate in the 

Sussex High Weald with the intention of making a dream country house. They 

created one of the country’s great gardens with experimental designs and plants 

from around the world. Nymans became a garden lovers’ home, a place where the 

Messels entertained family and friends, relaxed in the garden, picnicked and walked 

in the woods. Partially destroyed by fire in 1947, the house and ruins sit within a 

romantic and picturesque setting. Nymans is the perfect place to relax, stroll in the 

garden and enjoy some time out. There are art exhibitions and creative hands on 

workshops in the rustic potting shed, garden workshops, guided walks and free

Established by Benedictine Monks during the 1040’s, Abbotsbury Swannery is a

Abbotsbury is located to the west of Weymouth and offers a fantastic day out. 

After spending time at The Swannery we travel to the nearby Sup Tropical Gardens, 

described by Alan Titchmarsh as “One of the finest gardens I have ever visited”. 

This magnificent 20 acre site offers stunning views of the Jurrasic Coast and is filled

Oxford – City of Dreaming Spires

Oxford, the ‘city of dreaming spires’ is steeped in a rich and fascinating history. 

Famous for its prestigious Oxford University, the city is very pedestrian friendly; a 

bustling cosmopolitan place with a lovely riverside setting and a lively mix of 

restaurants, bars and superb shopping. The Radcliffe Camera, Bodleian Library and 

Bridge of Sighs make up just a few of the famous picturesque buildings of Oxford. Its 

charming scenery has been the inspiration for many, including Lewis Carroll and 

J.R.R Tolkien. There are also many recognisable scenes from popular films such as 

Harry Potter and TV series, Inspector Morse. Come along for a great day out.

Home to Lady Emma Barnard, Parham is a private estate beautifully set at the foot of 

the South Downs in West Sussex described by Simon Jenkins as ‘in the Top 20 of

Great Hall and Long Gallery, houses an excellent collection of portraits, furniture, 

needlework and antiquities. The gardens are a particular highlight of your day 

consisting of beautiful Pleasure Grounds and a four-acre Walled Garden. There are 

stunning herbaceous borders, a glasshouse, vegetable garden, orchard and a 1920s

Beautifully situated in the wonderful Cotswold countryside, Hidcote Manor Gardens

gardens. Explore the maze of narrow paved pathways and discover secret gardens, 

magnificent vistas and plants that burst with colour. It’s the perfect place if you’re in 

need of gardening inspiration. Famous for rare shrubs and trees as well as its 

outstanding design features – there are water features, wild flower areas and pools 

with plenty of places to sit and take in the atmosphere. See the long herbaceous 

borders which gives a great splash of colour and walk amongst the old scented roses

With a history dating back to Roman times and beyond, Chichester has much to 

offer the visitor. One of the best preserved Georgian cities, the broad streets are 

packed with listed buildings and plenty of good shops, restaurants and coffee 

shops – easy place to explore on foot. Take a break with a visit to the amazing 

Cathedral or the lovely Priory Park enclosed by the city walls. You have the option of 

spending some of the day in the charming town of Arundel. Delightfully located with 

an impressive castle and cathedral dominating the town and lovely old streets to 

stroll around. Great selection of places for lunch or welcome cup of tea and some 

quirky independent shops.

City of Wells 

ROUTE Z 

Wells is one of Britain’s secret gems and a fabulous destination for a day out; proof 

that the country still has much to admire! Sheltered beneath the southern slopes of 

the Mendip Hills, it combines a wealth of historic interest and beautiful architecture. 

Wells qualifies as England’s smallest, and Somerset's only city because of its amazing 

12th century Cathedral. The wells, which gave the city its name, are located within 

the grounds of the Bishop’s Palace, which is still the residence of the Bishop of Bath 

and Wells. Also of interest are Vicars’ Close, claimed to be the oldest complete 

medieval street in Europe, and the historic market place. 


Tuesday 11th 

Horse Drawn Canal Boat & Marlborough 

ROUTE A 

Extended and improved. Step back in time with us, as we head first to one of our 

favourite stopping places, Marlborough. This archetypal English Market town has 

that ‘film location’ quality and is a great spot to stroll around and enjoy a nice lunch. 

In the afternoon we head to nearby Kintbury and board the ‘Kennet Valley’ horse 

drawn barge for a 2 ½ hour cruise along the beautiful Kennet & Avon Canal. This 

wide beam passenger boat was purpose built for carrying passengers and is 

powered solely by the towing action of the horse making for a tranquil journey. 

Facilities onboard include a well stocked bar serving tea, coffee, soft drinks and 

beverages. Whilst on board we have included a cup of tea & slice of cake for you! 

A lovely day out.

West Bay Lunch – Station Kitchen Special

Come along for a lovely day out to one of our favourite spots on the Dorset Coast 

with a delicious meal in the highly-regarded Station Kitchen. With a unique location 

this stylish fine dining restaurant occupies the old Station House with a beautifully 

renovated WW1 hospital train carriage as the main eating area. Adorned with photos 

and bits and bobs, with a wonderful rustic style – you have the choice of Fish & 

Chips, Steak & Ale Pie and mash or the vegetarian Wild Mushroom & Truffle Oil Pie – 

includes a cup of tea! Pudding is available on the day for an additional cost. After 

free time to stroll around West Bay we reboard the coach and take the beautiful

Henley with NEW Luxury Afternoon Tea Cruise ROUTE A 

Adjacent to the River Thames, Henley is best known for its annual Royal Regatta, 

attracting some of the world’s finest rowers. Why not tread in the footsteps of 

Redgrave & Pinsent and stop off at the town’s award-winning River and Rowing 

Museum. But there is more to the town, with its historic church, Town Hall, market 

square and excellent shops and restaurants. After time in the town we head to 

Maidenhead to complete the day with a wonderful 2 hour cruise in our covered river 

boat. Whilst on board we pass Cliveden House and the glorious riverside houses of 

the many celebrities at Bray. To cap it all, we have included a delicious afternoon tea.

Royal Ascot

Come along to one of the most glamourous events in the British Sporting calendar 

with a chance to enjoy the superb racing. Today there are three Group One races – 

the Queen Anne Stakes, the King’s Stand Stakes and the St James’s Palace Stakes 

which often attracts horses that have run in the English, French and Irish 2,000 

Guineas. We have reserved tickets for the Windsor Enclosure, which is located on 

the straight mile, offering a vibrant and exciting experience. Be the first to see the 

Royal Procession as The Queen’s landau passes the railings and the first to hear the 

thunder of the hooves. There are a number of food and drink outlets available or 

picnics are allowed – they must be brought in a picnic hamper or cool bag/box. 

Although no formal dress code applies, racegoers are encouraged to wear smart 

clothes. Please check the Ascot website for full details if you are unsure. Subject to 

traffic we will arrive at Ascot around 12.00pm, 2.00pm Royal Procession, 2.30pm

Devon & Dorset Drive with Roast Carvery

Lovely day out to enjoy the beautiful scenery of West Dorset and East Devon before 

stopping at the excellent Hare & Hounds Pub near Sidmouth. This traditional country 

pub has wooden beams and log fires with lovely views down towards Sidmouth and 

the sea. We have included a delicious carvery with an extensive choice of fresh 

vegetables, gravy and extras. Pudding is available on the day for an additional cost. 

Afterwards we shall head in to Sidmouth with time to stroll along the seafront and

Hughenden Manor, Buckinghamshire - National Trust ROUTE A 

A highly regarded National Trust property, Hughenden was famously the home of 

PM Benjamin Disraeli. Surrounded by ancient woodlands and parkland, this 

impressive Manor House has a huge sense of history - the site of political drama and 

royal visits. As well as the political intrigue, the Manor also played an important role 

in World War Two as the RAF had a secret base here. There is a fascinating exhibition 

covering the houses involvement including a shelter in the basement. The gardens 

which were designed by Disraeli’s wife are another highlight - lovely to stroll around 

and enjoy the plants. Facilities include a café & tea room serving hot & cold food.

work – the extraordinary drawing-room was painted by artist Rex Whistler. Enjoy a 

stroll along the sparkling River Test which runs through the estate whilst the gardens

ONE OF OUR MOST POPULAR DAYS. After joining the ferry from Lymington we will 

be joined by one of our local guides for a tour of the Island – we try to see as much

Itinerary 

DAY 1: After being collected from your 

home around 6.00am we travel to our 

hotel in the Dijon region of Burgundy in 

France via the Eurotunnel with comfort 

stops as required. Our hotel is the tried

DAY 2: We depart after breakfast and 

enjoy spectacular scenery as we head 

down for our first look at the 

Mediterranean – arriving at Diano 

Marina mid evening with a warm 

welcome from the hotel staff. 

DAYS 3 to 6: During your stay in Diano 

Marina we shall have 2 excursions which 

are included in the price of the holiday. 

Our superb local guide will join us for 

an excursion to discover the Italian 

coastline and historic towns of this 

beautiful area. For the other excursion 

we board the coach for a visit to the 

Principality of Monaco and a chance to 

see how the rich and famous live. The 

remainder of your time is free to relax, 

enjoy the sunshine, the friendly hotel 

and the resort of Diano Marina. 

DAY 7: Sadly we leave the 

Mediterranean behind and begin the 

journey home with plenty of comfort 

stops as required before arriving at our

Grand Duchy of Luxembourg is one of Europe’s most 

picturesque countries. This ever popular holiday is based in 

the beautiful Luxembourg Ardennes, surrounded by wooded

medieval town of Vianden, lovely to explore on foot and 

overlooked by a magnificent Castle – one of the largest 

fortified castles west of the River Rhine. With a remarkable 

history, Luxembourg has now become a financial powerhouse

visit the sophisticated Capital, with its mix of skyscrapers and 

beautiful historic centre with fortifications and pop over the 

border to visit one of Germany’s oldest cities, Trier. 

Itinerary 

DAY 1: After being collected from your local pick up point (5.45/6.45am approx.) 

we board the Eurotunnel and arrive in France early afternoon. We continue 

through France & Belgium in to Luxembourg, arriving early evening. After a long 

journey relax in the comfort of the hotel. 

DAY 2: Free day today to enjoy our lovely host town. Vianden is one of the most 

picturesque towns in the country, so explore the medieval streets and head for 

the fairytale castle by chair lift for spectacular scenery. Find somewhere nice for 

lunch and enjoy relaxing in the hotel. 

DAY 3: Great excursion today as we 

head to one of our most popular 

European destinations. Trier - Germany’s 

oldest city, a beautiful town on the 

banks of the Moselle River has a number 

of UNESCO World Heritage sites to 

enjoy. We shall be joined by a guide for 

a 1 hour walking tour to see some of the 

best city sights including the famous 

Porta Nigra, one of the finest preserved 

Roman city gates in Europe, the Main 

Market, the Cathedral and the Church of 

Our Lady, the Roman Imperial Throne 

Room and Electoral Palace. Followed by 

free time to enjoy. On our return to 

Vianden enjoy the lovely scenery and 

we also have a brief stop in the 

picturesque town of Echternach. 

DAY 4: Another highlight today as we 

head to Luxembourg City. Stopping 

near the historic centre where we are 

joined by a local guide for a 2 hour 

walking tour to discover attractions 

including the Place a’Armes, Corniche, 

Old Town and Grand Ducal Palace. Free 

time afterwards to further explore and 

find somewhere nice for lunch or a drink 

before returning to the hotel late 

afternoon. Guided tour included. 

DAY 5: Mid morning we head north for 

the short journey to the town of 

Clervaux – lovely to explore with a 

Castle full of history and the excellent 

Battle of the Bulge Museum, a 

magnificent Abbey overlooking the 

town and historic streets and houses.
