A FAMILIAR FACE RETURNS TO LEON’S CENTRE
JACOB PAQUETTE FACES HIS FORMER TEAM FOR THE FIRST TIME SINCE TRADE
The Niagara IceDogs and Kingston Frontenacs have
done more than just face each other on the ice this
season. On November 20, Kingston sent Jason Robertson
and Jacob Paquette to Niagara in exchange for
Billy Constantinou, Ian Martin and 11 draft picks. It was
one of, if not the biggest trades in Kingston Frontenacs
history.
Jason Robertson will not be in the Niagara lineup
tonight as he is participating in the World Juniors with
Team USA, but Jacob Paquette will face his former
team for the first time. Since he joined the IceDogs,
Paquette has scored a goal and added 5 assists. He
also has a +11 rating. The IceDogs added him for his
defensive abilities, and he continues to deliver in that
end of the ice, but his 6 points is already more than he
had in 24 games with Kingston before the trade.
Coming to the Frontenacs in the trade were Ian Martin
and Billy Constantinou. Martin has been a nice add
to the forward group. He is a strong skater that brings
physicality to the lineup. At just 17 years old he will
earn more and more ice time as he gains experience.
Constantinou has impressed fans with his puck moving
ability and vision so far. He is a highly touted prospect
for the upcoming NHL draft with many scouts expecting
to see him get selected in the 2nd round. He adds
to an already impressive group of young defencemen.
This is just year twelve for the Niagara IceDogs in
the OHL so there isn’t a lot of history between the two
teams. The Frontenacs have the upper hand in the 45
match ups between the two teams. They have a record
of 24-17-4. That record improves at Leon’s Centre
where Kingston is 13-6-3 against Niagara. KF

Zayde Wisdom is a quiet, easy going person
when he isn’t in hockey equipment. When he
laces up his skates that changes in a big way. All
reports say that Zayde just wants to play hockey.
He loves the game and he loves being on the
ice with his teammates. He also loves making
it known to the opponent that he is on the ice
every shift. He is a physical force despite standing
just 5’ 10”. His work ethic has made him a fan
As a young player, fans have had the chance
to see Zayde develop over the first half of the
season. His ice time has increased along with
his confidence. At one point this season he spent
time on the top line with Brett Neumann and
Jason Robertson signaling that the coaching staff
also liked what they were seeing from him. He
has recorded 2 goals and 2 assists so far in his
rookie season, but as time goes on and Zayde
favourite in Kingston at just 16 years old.
Zayde grew up in Toronto, ON and played
minor hockey for the Toronto Jr. Canadiens. In
his minor midget season he scored 15 goals
and added 38 assists for a total of 53 points in
57 games. That number gave him the second
highest total on his team.
The Kingston Frontenacs had to wait a long
time between picks in the 2018 OHL Priority
Selection. They selected Jake Murray in the
opening round, but didn’t pick again until the
fourth round of the draft. They were happy to see
Zayde Wisdom still available when they picked
73rd overall and quickly selected him with that
pick.
Following training camp in September, the
Frontenacs entered into a Standard Player
Agreement with Zayde making him a member
of the Black and Gold for the 2018-19 season.
He made his OHL debut on opening night for the
Frontenacs in Peterborough on September 20th.

After a 15 year pro career, including 10 in the NHL, Kurtis Foster started his coaching career with the Peterborough Petes.
After a season as an Assistant Coach with the Petes, he made the move to Kingston to be an Assistant Coach to Jay
Varady. Kurtis was promoted to Head Coach for the 2018-19 season after Varady was hired by the Tucson Roadrunners
of the AHL.
Luca Caputi played 8 years of pro hockey and immediately joined the coaching ranks following his playing career, as an Assistant
Coach with the Guelph Storm for the 2015-16 season. After three season in Guelph, he made the move to Kingston and was
named Associate Coach of the Frontenacs this past July.
Phil Mangan played in the OHL for the Ottawa 67’s and Kingston Frontenacs before moving to the QMJHL in 2006 to join the
Moncton Wildcats. He finished his junior career with the St John’s Fog Devils. After a number of seasons in the ECHL, Mangan
joined the Kingston Frontenacs as an Assistant Coach for the 2016-17 season.
