Dear Parents:
Superintendent News
By Dr. Joseph Beeson
Welcome back! No doubt this New Year has brought the typical decisions to change this or that or to improve
one thing or another. We should all be striving to improve our spiritual walk to draw closer to Jesus. However,
the joy is He is never NOT there. Remember, He always keeps His promises and He said, “I will never leave you
or forsake you.” Hebrews 13:5.
May each of us claim that promise daily.
Dr. Joseph Beeson
By Mrs. Stock
Dear Families,
Welcome to 2019. I pray that each of you had opportunity to rest, connect, and create wonderful memories.
Although I am not one to make new year’s resolutions I do believe that the start of every year is a great time to
reflect and refocus. Each year I ask the Lord to give me a word to set my thoughts on. For 2019 I’ve been given
the word, Listen. Listen to the Holy Spirit, listen to God’s promises, listen to other- to their joys, pains, and
stories. Listen before speaking, before responding, before acting. I find that each year each new word becomes
integrated into who I am. I pray that in 2019 you will join with me as we focus on the need to listen to the Holy
Spirit in our lives.
Have a wonderful week and great start to 2019.
LAKE CENTER CHRISTIAN ATHLETICS
LCCS Varsity Athletics Weekly Review (Week of December 17, 2018 - January 6, 2019):
VARSITY GIRLS BASKETBALL
The Lady Tigers enjoyed a Christmas Break that was full of success on the court! It began on Wednesday,
December 19th, in a PTC-County contest against Valley Christian. The Ladies secured the victory in the last
seconds of the game to win, 60-58. Kennedy Haubert led the team in scoring that night with a game-high 26
points. The Team was then off for over a week until they competed in the 1st Annual CVCA Holiday Classic.
The Team showed themselves extremely well in the showcase, coming away with victories over Kingsway
Christian and Central Christian, respectively. Congratulations to Kennedy Haubert and Hannah Mang for
being named Players of the Games in the contests. The Ladies concluded their break with another game
against Kingsway Christian this past Thursday, January 3rd, on the road. The Team was firing on all cylinders
and pulled out a decisive 57-42 win. Hannah Mang led the team in scoring with 29. Coach Keene and the
Lady Tigers are currently riding a 5-game winning streak and will look to continue to build on it with three
big games this coming week.
Christmas Break Results: Valley Christian Eagles (W, 60-58), Kingsway Christian Eagles (W, 50-48), Central
Christian Comets (W, 55-32), Kingsway Christian Eagles (W, 57-42)
VARSITY BOYS BASKETBALL
The Tigers experienced a Christmas Break full of ups and downs against some very good competition. Way
back on Alumni Night, Friday, December 21st, the Tigers took on Valley Christian in a PTC-County matchup.
After the Tigers jumped out to an early lead, the Eagles got hot and pulled away with a 70-56 victory.
Adam Nowak scored a game-high 28 points in the game. After getting over a week off from games, the
Tigers looked to bounce back to their winning ways in a non-conference matchup against Cardinal Mooney.
Unfortunately, the Cardinals took control from the very beginning and won the contest, 78-52. The Team,
however, was not shaken, and proved that by claiming their biggest victory of the season against Crestwood
the following week, 63-59. The win against the PTC-leading Red Devils allowed the Tigers the claim one of
the top-spots in PTC. The game was also highlighted with two dunks from juniors, Adam Nowak and Daniel
Underation. The Tigers had a quick turnaround as they took on non-conference opponent, Tuslaw, the very
next night. After a tremendous 1st half of basketball, the Tigers were unable to hang onto the lead and lost,
70-61. Payton Triplett led all scorers in that game with 19. The Tigers carry a strong 6-3 record into a very
busy week ahead.
Christmas Break Results: Valley Christian Eagles (L, 56-70), Cardinal Mooney Cardinals (L, 52-78), Crestwood
Red Devils (W, 63-59), Tuslaw Mustangs (L, 61-70)
We are thankful for the generous donations that have come in through
End of Year giving from October 1-December 31. For that period of time
$260,958 has been given in cash and pledges. We praise the Lord.
Peer-to-Peer Giving REPORT: Congratulations to the 4th-6th grade team
who brought in $8335. We will be planning a special reward for you with
Mrs. Stock.
As we are in our Final Stretch to complete the Cafenasium, we only have
$339,042 left to fully fund this Cafenaisum project. We are working on getting pledges for this remaining
amount to be paid over the next year. Please contact Sheryl Roberts at sroberts@lccs.com if you are willing to
pledge a monthly amount towards this total. We started with $600,000 left to raise in October. We decided to
make it fun and divide this amount by 100 that equals $6,000. 100 TIGERS for sale at $6,000 each seems like a
GRRRREAT fun idea. We have “sold” 44 TIGERS at $6,000 each. 56 TIGERS are still available. What would
you be able to pledge monthly to help us complete the Cafenasium and give our remaining TIGERS a home?
