WELCOME
TO COUNTRYSIDE EQUESTRIAN CENTRE
HAPPY NEW YEAR TO OUR LOYAL CEC FAMILY!
Lots of happenings planned for the stables, with our first
training show for the year kicking off on 26 January 2019.
We hope the year will be blessed with awesomeness and can’t
wait to welcome each and every one back at the stables!

A few new faces has joined the riding school and we will send
out the formal welcome in the February 2019 newsletter.
Pony Zee was sold during December and is going to further
his career with his fabulous new owners.
Feel free to view our available horses and ponies for sale by
clicking HERE.
Mr. Grey is also schooling along nicely and will be coming
into the market by end of January 2019. Zeus, the gorgeous
Friesian gelding is in the process of being backed and as soon
as he is under saddle will also be available for sale.

2019
The entry form for our training show
running on the 26th of January 2019 at
CEC is available HERE.
The year kicks off with the first Qualifier
for SANESA happening at Misty Meadows
early February. Remember to get those
entries in!
Also a reminder to our graded riders to
renew your memberships at SANEF, your
relevant club as well as the disciplines
you aim to be competing in during 2019.
The 2018 Pony camp was a ROARING
success. The 20 riders who attended
all had a grand time and learned a lot!

• The next deworming for all horses
and ponies is scheduled for 29
January 2019.
• Splash had an impaction colic during
the first week of January 2019.
Our super Veterinarian Heinrich
Davies watched over him diligently
together with our Awesome CEC staff
and he has made a full recovery.
• Buffeltjie had a swollen sheath due
to ticks which was cleaned and
swelling went down by the next day.
• With the rainfalls of late, and those
heatwaves also coming through
all the midges and bugs are in full
swing. A lot of horses are undergoing
mange treatment again and with the
first cases and deaths reported in
Whalmansdal with regards to African
Horse Sickness, our grooms have
been persistently using fly spray on
all the horses. We will be putting on
fly- and day sheets from 14 January
2019. Clients, if your sheet is at
home, PLEASE bring it to CEC so we
can apply the sheets to your horse(s)
as an added barrier against the AHS
carriers – Midges.
•
Also please ensure your horse has
adequate fly repellent. The horses
making use of our CEC fly repellent
are in constant supply but if you
supply your own, and it runs out, we
WILL be using our CEC mixture which
will then be added to your account.
• CLIENTS: PLEASE ENSURE you have
the following items CLEARLY marked
with your horse’s name in your
horses’ box at their stable or paddock
as we will not be able to properly
treat minor wounds, tick infestations

or mange without the following:
Tick Grease, Iceman/deep ice/
arnica ice, Wound aerosol (Purple
spray), Wound ointment (dermavet/
agrisulph), hoof and sole hardener,
Stockholm tar, milking cream,
shampoo treatment for mange (F10).

CEC 2019
• PLEASE RESPECT the speed limit
of 30km/h on the property of CEC.
We have horses and game grazing
on the property as well as riders
on horseback in the field on a
continuous basis. Accidents can
be avoided by driving slowly and
carefully and looking out for the
abovementioned. We appreciate
your consideration with this regard.
• THANK YOU to everyone who
supplied ‘Christmas’ for our
grooms! The big smiles on their
faces meant the world to us!
• New dragline pipes have been
purchased for the stables. We
will also be installing more
taps at the stable yard during
January and February 2019.
• Manure is available for sale at R10
per bag. Horse manure mixed with
shavings make a nice compost for
gardens. Contact Melindi @ 084
760 8450 to arrange for purchase.
• Our venue is available for
photoshoots and Birthday parties.
Feel free to contact us for a quote.
• PLEASE be considerate on our CEC
chat group on Whattsapp. Only
horse-related and CEC related
posts to be made on this group as
many people leave groups that are
too active with unrelated posts.
• We always appreciate it when our
clients have questions, concerns and
comments about the stable yard.

messages from 6:30 pm. In the event
of an emergency after hours eg. a
Sick horse, the owner of said horse
will be contacted in order to arrange
veterinary or hospital care.

STABLING & LESSON CLIENTS
• PLEASE CLICK HERE to access the fees

Equestrian Centre for the year of 2019.
• During February the Equine dentist
will be visiting CEC.
• All horses and ponies are also
due to receive their Equine
influenza vaccination which will be
administered by our veterinarian.
• The relevant fees will be added to
your stabling invoice.
• For the riders who will be attending
graded and SANESA shows, ensure
you book your instructor early if you
need assistance at a show.
• CEC club shirts available at the office
@ R450 per shirt.
• Please keep our stable yard
clean! There are dustbins set up
strategically at different areas of
the stable yard for this purpose.
• Smokers, also please remember to

throw away cigarette butts as we
have some of our old ponies grazing
around the stable yard area and don’t
want them to consume these.
• NO rider is allowed to jump fences
in the cross country area without
an instructor present and the rider
wearing a body protector. Remember
guys that these jumps are SOLID, and
should only be attempted under the
watchful eye of one of our instructors.
If you want to book a cross country
jumping lesson, come chat to us at
the office so we can book you in.
• PLEASE TAKE NOTE: IF PAYMENT
WITH REGARDS TO YOUR STABLING
AND / OR RIDING LESSONS ARE NOT
PAID BY THE 3RD DAY OF EACH NEW
MONTH – a late payment penalty of
R150 will take effect and be billed
with your next invoice. If you are
unable to make your payment by
the 3rd day of the new month after
receiving your invoice, PLEASE
contact Melindi @ 084 760 8450 in
order to arrange payment procedure
BEFORE the 3rd of each new month.
Always better to be safe than sorry.
• Riders having Lessons at Countryside
Equestrian Centre – Please remember
that we work on a 24 hour notice
period for Cancellation of Lessons.
It has happened a few times where
riders don’t show up for their
scheduled riding lesson where the
horse / pony has been saddled up
and is ready to work. In these events
our instructors WILL NOT catch up
the riding lesson missed unless in
the event of an EMERGENCY. Our
24 hour notice period enables the
instructor to then book in another
student who might have missed a
lesson and thus the instructors’ time
is not wasted as ALL our instructors
work on a commission basis with
regards to lessons given.
• Clients: Please remember if you
would like to discontinue riding
lessons or stabling at CEC we need
to receive one CALENDER months’
notice / payment in advance.
• Please remember that NO RIDER
is allowed on horseback at CEC
WITHOUT wearing a RIDING
HELMET! Please guys, this is for
your own safety and most horserelated
injuries are head injuries.
