Happy New Year, and thank you Happy New Year from all of us at CICM, and thank you for your continued membership and support. We have been reflecting on our 2018 here at CICM, and our efforts to fulfil our key purposes as your professional body: to raise awareness of the importance of credit management, drive best practice, and support credit professionals as their careers develop. It was certainly a busy year (as you will see from our summary on the back page), and was a year of significant ‘firsts’: our first venture into television documentaries; the launch of our Knowledge Hub, providing members and subscribers with access to more than 1,300 knowledge resources covering the entire credit management lifecycle; and the launch of our CICM Mentor Hub, a simple yet highlypractical way of matching suitable mentors and mentees. The thirst for knowledge around best-practice in credit management, not just in the UK but also internationally, was evidenced by the broad spread of nationalities represented in recent exams. Students in no fewer than 17 different countries, from the UK to the US, chose the education pathway offered by the CICM, confirming in my mind the essential role that the CICM continues to play in delivering real expertise. The CICM Membership Challenge How will you make the most of your membership in 2019? We are asking all members to rise to three membership challenges in 2019. Which will you commit to? This year I will: Register on the Mentor Hub Complete a module on the Knowledge Hub Attend a local CICM meeting or event Share the CM Magazine with my colleagues Recommend a colleague for membership Use the free CICM helpline Start the process of CICMQ accreditation Apply to upgrade my membership Complete my CICM qualification That does not mean we can rest on our laurels, and as you can read on our website, we recently launched our new set of qualifications to meet the needs of a new generation of credit professionals. So what lies ahead? 2019 is our 80th year, so this will be a year of celebration and innovation as we continue to build on our membership offer. Look out for new resources, events and qualifications all coming soon.
