increase access
and economic
opportunity…
through career
workshops
that transform
music into
professions.”
We are so proud of Music Forward’s Bringing Down
the House Class of 2017!
Each year, we receive hundreds of submissions
from around the country for a select number of
spots. We are thrilled to share their explosive
talent with you today!
Bringing Down the House is an emerging artist
incubator that helps students navigate the music
industry, learn music business basics, and develop
skills required to make a living as an artist. Music
Forward uses music as a “hook” to engage youth
eager to develop themselves professionally. Like all
our programs, Bringing Down the House is designed
to increase access and economic opportunity for
young people through career development workshops
that transform a passion for music into professions.
I want to offer an enormous thank you to our
volunteers and supporters for giving your time and
sharing valuable knowledge with our students. This
career pipeline program engages more than 100
volunteers nationwide, who provide mentoring and
guidance to our participants who may not otherwise
have the opportunity to connect directly with this
caliber of industry experts.
Get ready to be blown away by our amazing Class of
2017 artists and please, enjoy the show!
“Wherever I
go, I bring the
culture with me,
so that they can
understand that it’s
attainable. I didn’t
do it any other way
than through
hip-hop.”
program staff
Session 2: Music Marketing - March 11, 2017
This session is designed to help our emerging artists build
their identity as a brand and market themselves as music
professionals. A panel of marketing experts was broadcast
live to all our participating cities, covering topics from
content development to traditional and digital outlet
strategies. After the panel, local experts led intensive
workshops onsite - providing hands-on tools, sharing
best practices, and helping each artist/band develop an
individualized marketing plan.
