WELCOME
TO COUNTRYSIDE EQUESTRIAN CENTRE
A warm CEC welcome to the latest additions to our family:
Laurice and her fabulous horse, Madam – Emily, Marni &
Aruné, Kayla as well as Nina-Mari and Nea – WELCOME!
We said a sad goodbye to Purple Rain during January 2019.
Unfortunately Rain started displaying neurological symptoms
due to 2 discs in her neck having degeneration.
Her absence though enabled us to make a silver lining to
the dark cloud. We rescued a super little horse renamed
‘toothless’ (due to his lack of proper teeth and because he is
black) who was severely underfed and we suspect abused as
well. His hooves have been done, deworming, and dentistry
and our FANTASTIC chiropractor treated him for free to ease
his sore back due to a previous ill-fitting saddle. We welcome
this addition with open hearts and know he will mean a lot to
our little riders in the future!

Our training show jumping show on 26
January was a resounding success!
Congratulations to everyone who
participated in the event, next CEC show
is due for March 2019.

• All horses and ponies have been
dewormed on 29 January 2019.
• All horses and ponies will be
receiving their first inoculation for
Equine influenza for 2019 during
February from our local veterinarian.
• The Equine dentist will be visiting
on 11, 12 and 13 February to
have our horses’ teeth seen to.
• There are 9 reported fatalities due
to African Horse Sickness (AHS)
in the Kameeldrift, Cullinan,
Krokodilspruit and Pyramid areas
– all of which are close to us. The
grooms are VIGILANTLY applying fly
spray to keep the midges away and
all horses who have fly sheets are
wearing them during the evenings
when midges are most active.
• Above being said, PLEASE ensure
your horse has adequate fly repellent.
The horses making use of our CEC fly
repellent are in constant supply but if
you supply your own, and it runs out,
we WILL be using our CEC mixture
which will then be added to your
account. With the active cases of AHS
in the area, we are averaging 3.5L
fly repellent per horse per month.
• CLIENTS: PLEASE ENSURE you
have the following items CLEARLY
marked with your horse’s name in
your horses’ box at their stable or
paddock as we will not be able to
properly treat minor wounds, tick
infestations or mange without the
following: Tick Grease, Iceman/deep

ice/arnica ice, Wound aerosol (Purple
spray), Wound ointment (dermavet/
agrisulph), hoof and sole hardener,
Stockholm tar, milking cream,
shampoo treatment for mange (F10).

CEC 2019
• PLEASE RESPECT the speed limit
of 20km/h on the property of CEC.
We have horses and game grazing
on the property as well as riders
on horseback in the field on a
continuous basis. Accidents can
be avoided by driving slowly and
carefully and looking out for the
abovementioned. We appreciate
your consideration with this regard.
• New sign boards are in the process of
being made for Countryside Equestrian
Centre and will be going up soon!
• We are busy with maintenance on
all our paddocks. Please guys, if
a paddock is still wet from being
painted with creosote, the chains
will be closed for the empty paddock.
Don’t put your horse / pony in there as
the product irritates the horses’ skin.
• A brand new gate motor has
been installed at the main gate.
The entry code for the gate
remains the same, although our
supplier entry code has changed.
• Manure is available for sale at R10
per bag. Horse manure mixed with
shavings make a nice compost for
gardens. Contact Melindi @ 084
760 8450 to arrange for purchase.
• Our venue is available for
photoshoots and Birthday parties.
Feel free to contact us for a quote.
• PLEASE be considerate on our CEC
chat group on Whattsapp. Only
horse-related and CEC related
posts to be made on this group as
many people leave groups that are
too active with unrelated posts.
• We always appreciate it when our
clients have questions, concerns and
comments about the stable yard.

messages from 6:30 pm. In the event
of an emergency after hours eg. a
Sick horse, the owner of said horse
will be contacted in order to arrange
veterinary or hospital care.

STABLING & LESSON CLIENTS
• PLEASE CLICK HERE to access the fees

Equestrian Centre for the year of 2019.
• For the riders who will be attending
graded and SANESA shows, ensure
you book your instructor early if
you need assistance at a show.
• CEC club shirts available at
the office @ R450 per shirt.
• Please keep our stable yard
clean! There are dustbins set up
strategically at different areas of
the stable yard for this purpose.
Smokers, also please remember to
throw away cigarette butts as we
have some of our old ponies grazing
around the stable yard area and
don’t want them to consume these.
• NO rider is allowed to jump fences
in the cross country area without
an instructor present and the rider
wearing a body protector. Remember
guys that these jumps are SOLID, and
should only be attempted under the

watchful eye of one of our instructors.
If you want to book a cross country
jumping lesson, come chat to us at
the office so we can book you in.

AND / OR RIDING LESSONS ARE NOT
PAID BY THE 3RD DAY OF EACH

penalty of R150 will take effect and
be billed with your next invoice.

instructor to then book in another

• If you are unable to make your payment
by the 3rd day of the new month
after receiving your invoice, PLEASE

order to arrange payment procedure
BEFORE the 3rd of each new month.
• Clients: Please remember if you
would like to discontinue riding
lessons or stabling at CEC we need
to receive one CALENDER months’
notice / payment in advance.
• Please remember that NO RIDER
is allowed on horseback at CEC
WITHOUT wearing a RIDING
HELMET! Please guys, this is for
your own safety and most horserelated
injuries are head injuries.
Always better to be safe than sorry.
• Riders having Lessons at Countryside
Equestrian Centre – Please remember
that we work on a 24 hour notice
period for Cancellation of Lessons.
