What highlights from 2018 will you

remember the most?

Mary Mauger, 2018 UPSTAR President

The real estate market is the most memorable highlight of 2018 for me. I’m not sure

I’ve seen a market characterized by multiple offers, same-day sales, limited inventory

and a record number of members in the association all at the same time.

Mary Mauger

Despite the market we’re facing, what I’ve learned in my career and what I hope

to convey to other brokers is the importance of putting the needs of others first.

Serving the interests of our clients with the utmost integrity and dealing fairly and

professionally with other brokers elevates the REALTOR ® name in our community. I

believe, more often than not, that a respected name and a fruitful career comes to

those who live and work above the fray.

It’s been an honor to serve as your 2018 President. Have a fabulous 2019!

Katrina Kay, Executive Officer

I’m privileged to be a part of an organization that “gives back”. Your volunteerism and

support for this association and the community are my most memorable highlights of

2018. For professionals that make a living on the sale of houses, it’s humbling to see

you support initiatives that maintain housing for the underserved or provide shelter

for the homeless. You are making an impact in the lives of real people that need

assistance.

Katrina Kay

Not only that, your support and involvement make our association thrive. When

you choose UPSTAR as your CE provider and send pre-licensing referrals our way,

the UPSTAR School of Real Estate grows stronger and enhances our ability to serve

you better. In 2018, the staff increased our “no member left behind” initiatives with

calls to you and will continue to implement service initiatives that bring value to your

business in 2019.

Thank you for your tremendous support during 2018.

COMMUNITY OUTREACH

2018 Highlights

Supporting Housing Related Charities

UPSTAR holds several member events each year that have a charitable

component. The events seek monetary and/or material donations for one of

the association’s designated charities—all of which have a housing related

service or program as a part of the organization. Following are the event

highlights for 2018, which raised over $6,800 for three of our designated

charities:

Charity: Shepherd’s House – providing long-term transitional housing to

veterans committed to rebuilding their lives. Amount Raised: $1,520

UPSTAR Golf Outing (social-networking event)

Charity: YWCA Domestic Violence Services – delivering high-quality

continuum of care programming to victims of domestic violence—including

a Crisis Shelter for those in immediate danger or in need of a safe place free

of violence. Amount Raised: $3,000

• Oktoberfest Food Truck Festival (social-networking event)

Charity: Redemption House – providing a faith-based transition home for

women on the road to self-sufficiency. Amount Raised: $2,345

the community:

• Day of Caring

Completed lawn maintenance and landscaping jobs on 10 homes for local

residents referred by NeighborLink.

• Power House
