<strong>Samuel</strong> <strong>Ali</strong> was born in 1990 in Gravesend, Kent, and has Turkish and Italian<br />

heritage.<br />

He is a second-year master’s student <strong>at</strong> the Royal College of Music where he<br />

studies the organ <strong>with</strong> David Graham, Sophie-Véronique Cauchefer-Choplin<br />

and Andrew Dewar. He also studies improvis<strong>at</strong>ion <strong>with</strong> Sophie-Véronique and<br />

continuo <strong>with</strong> Robert Woolley. He is the organist <strong>at</strong> Christ Church in Chelsea<br />

where is responsible for all the organ playing <strong>at</strong> the church and accompanies<br />

the choir and liturgy each week.<br />

In 2018 <strong>Samuel</strong> gave an all-Bach recital as part of London Bach Society’s<br />

Bachfest and also performed Poulenc’s organ concerto <strong>at</strong> the RCM. This year,<br />

he will perform in Moscow (representing the RCM) and give recitals as part of<br />

three organ festivals in Slovakia this summer. In September he will undertake<br />

one further year’s study <strong>at</strong> the RCM on the Artists Diploma course—the first<br />

organist to do so.<br />

Before moving back to the Southeast in 2017, <strong>Samuel</strong> completed his BMus <strong>at</strong><br />

the Royal Northern College of Music in Manchester <strong>with</strong> Darius B<strong>at</strong>tiwalla,<br />

and before th<strong>at</strong> held the organ scholarship <strong>at</strong> Rochester C<strong>at</strong>hedral.<br />

The Friends of C<strong>at</strong>hedral Music have organised a visit to Clifton College<br />

followed by evensong <strong>at</strong> the C<strong>at</strong>hedral on S<strong>at</strong>urday March 16. The day starts<br />

<strong>at</strong> 12.15pm <strong>with</strong> College <strong>Organ</strong>ist James Drinkw<strong>at</strong>er talking about music <strong>at</strong><br />

the college, followed by a short organ recital. Evensong <strong>at</strong> Bristol C<strong>at</strong>hedral is<br />

<strong>at</strong> 3.30pm, after which Mark Lee (<strong>Organ</strong>ist and Master of Choristers) will give<br />

a short talk covering highlights of this year's music and progress on the organ<br />
