Freddy’s unique ability to harness movement and create vibrant colours within his subjects has made his work highly desirable amongst collectors. His speciality is the horse and those with an experienced eye will notice how he is able to capture their grace and beauty with a few deft strokes of a brush. This passion for horses started at an early age, growing up in a family where you were taught to ride before you walked. They have remained an important part of his life and his studio is even situated within a stable bock! Freddy’s work creates an experience for the viewer. The urgent, colourful strokes form an illusion of movement. Details constantly shift as the eye moves around the painting. He often leaves sections of the canvas unpainted, the background becomes just as important as the layered paint. It is this interaction with the observer which makes Freddy’s work so distinctive; his paintings constantly delight and reveal new details over time.
