PEOPLE
WOOLSTON
A community garden needs a group which is able
to come in and work up a sweat to get ground
ready to plant, move existing compost - putting
together a new compost bin area would be a
bonus ... once set up, this area has the potential to
be a great place for people to meet, greet and grow
things to eat and share in the community.
Also on this site, there is a real need for a fence to
be built to provide a safe outdoor area for ‘break
time’ during their toddler music and movement
group. An existing playhouse, if able to be
repaired, could be a great asset to this area. But
perhaps it will need removing - could you help
with that?
Pick one of the projects outlined above - or just
a piece of it - or, if you are located in or around
Woolston, let’s talk about how you might have an
ongoing role in creating a real community asset.
BURWOOD
Hospital courtyard gardens really enhance the
stay of patients and their visitors too! Do you
have a group who could give a half day - or a day!
- to do some general tidying up in these areas ....
weeding, pruning, etc.
ADOPT-A-SITE
Throughout the year we look for volunteers to
staff street appeal sites - this is a great way to
support a community group without having
your whole team ‘out of action’ at the same time,
while still being part of the same project. We can
allocate a site to your team which you then sort
the roster for ... and we encourage you to ‘logo’ up
to show the community how you are involved.
Check the list of upcoming appeals listed below.
Interested, let Glenda know today: outreach@
IMPACT INVESTMENT
Your organisation’s effort in the community
makes an impact. We are here to help you make
that investment of your team’s time a worthwhile
one for them as well as an investment in impact
within the community.
Where possible we will be aligning available
projects with the United Nations’ Sustainable
Development Goals - which means that while
your group or business is providing a team
building and/or wellbeing initiative, it will also
be able to identify the area of impact which the
group is having globally!
CURTAIN BANK
Feeling the cold? One way to keep homes warmer
is quality curtains! The Curtain Bank would
welcome your group to come and give them
a hand; generous donations of curtains need
organising, measuring, sorting ...
Big 'shout out' to the Spark team who really 'made a difference' at Travis
Wetlands at the beginning of February ... It really was a case of 'now
you see it, now you don't' when it came to clearing weeds to give these
plantings some space to grow!
