7000 An essential and rare celadon glazed dish in<br />

the shape of a mallow flower<br />

The straight outlines of the six petals lead to a shallow<br />

round base, entirely decorated in relief with very fine lower<br />

vines beneath the soft olive green glaze. The underside is<br />

glazed with incisions indicating the petals. The foot ring is<br />

unglazed, but burned reddish-brown in the firing.<br />

7001 Decorative small double-handled<br />

celadon glazed jar<br />

This jar features a globular body, rising to a short cylinder<br />

shaped neck. Two fine rounded handles are resting on the<br />

shoulders and the neck. This fine piece is decorated in<br />

relief with flowers and vines beneath the crackled, soft<br />

green glaze.<br />

7002 An intriguing, Longquan celadon glazed dish<br />

Beneath the curved well is enclosed with a plain broad rim.<br />

At the centre, a pair of fish is moulded in high relief within<br />

a double line border.<br />

7003 A remarkable and rare square shaped celadon<br />

glazed base or pedestal<br />

This piece of art is likely to be part of a square shaped vase.<br />

The hollow base flares outwards to a straight rim, both decorated<br />

by delicate cutaway patterns and openings, accentuated<br />

by relief on the sides. Moreover, it is decorated with two<br />

dragons and two flowers and on the rim with squares and<br />

rectangles. The four corners are decorated with moulded<br />

animal figures. This celadon vase is covered in green glaze.<br />

The interior inclining rim remained unglazed and burned is<br />

reddish-brown in the firing as it is characteristic of the period.<br />

CHINESE GLAZED STONEWARE<br />

7004 A good, decorative small glazed stoneware vase<br />

This vase features a globular body rising from a short foot<br />

ring which is surmounted by a long neck with a wide and<br />

flat everted rim. The body is decorated with several bands.<br />

Iridescent green glaze is partially visible on the body and<br />

shoulders. This trait is characteristic of the period. On the<br />

underside two indents are visible; these are caused by the<br />

baking methods.<br />

This remarkable stoneware dish features rounded sides<br />

which are rising to a straight edge with two flat handles<br />

7007 A very important pottery figure of a warrior<br />

We see a Warrior standing, holding one hand above the<br />

other in front of him (possibly held a spear), dressed in<br />

helmet and armour, with an extremely elaborately<br />

moulded face. The figure is almost entirely covered in a<br />

creamy glaze.<br />

7008 An especially beautiful and rare glazed pottery<br />

figure of a warrior<br />

The figure is standing on a small oval foot, wearing a helmet<br />

and Ixi-armour; the whole piece is covered in crème glaze.<br />

The warrior astounds with finely sculpted details of the<br />

clothing and especially of the facial features.<br />

7009 A greatly important and rare sancai-glazed<br />

pottery ewer in the shape of a goose<br />

Seated on its feet, head raised with a plump body and lush<br />

flaring tail, hollow on the inside. The head and feather tail in<br />

elaborate detail, covered in an iridescent and adherent green,<br />

brown and crème glaze.<br />

7010 A ravishing decorative Sancai-glazed<br />

stoneware jar<br />

The well-curved globular body is surmounted by a short<br />

neck with a lipped everted rim. The broad shoulder is bearing<br />

four leaf-shaped appliques, covered in a mixture of<br />

ochre and green glaze running in rivulets from the mouth<br />

over the body. In certain areas we find a fine iridescence.<br />

The underside is unglazed, exposing the greyish-white pottery<br />

beneath.<br />

of a man<br />

This figure shows a man standing: One hand rests on his<br />

rounded belly. This figure enthuses with beautifully sculpted<br />

facial features and clothing. His hair is tied into a bowshaped<br />

in a crème glaze what is an evidence of an early date<br />

of production.<br />

pottery figure of a camel.<br />

Standing on a foursquare, the camel’s head is raised and<br />

its mouth agape. This fine piece of art is covered in a fine<br />

glaze of yellow, brown and green. The crème stoneware is<br />

showing in some places. The fur, the saddle as well as the<br />

animal’s head are beautifully handcrafted.<br />

Of crème-coloured earthenware, with a well-rounded globular<br />

body rising from a narrow foot, to a tapering long neck with<br />

a flared rim. On the lower body a pair of thick loop handles.<br />

From the middle of the body upwards decorated with<br />

horizontal thick black zigzagging lines between two thick<br />

black bands.<br />

7018 A very rare and beautiful large jade disc “Bi”<br />

Of dark grey, white nephrite jade, flat with some irregularities,<br />

circular form. Decorated on one side with a delicately incised<br />

figure of a Sharman, with feathered head piece, angular face,<br />

with round eyes and oval mouth, arms to the side and bent, sitting<br />

seemly cross-legged. Two circular discs to his sides. Disc<br />

with a small central circular opening, carving rings visible on<br />

the inside characteristic of ancient technics.<br />

a mythical beast “Bixie”<br />

The grinning mythical beast, head turned back, with accentuated<br />

oval eyes. Its clawed haunches in walking position,<br />

incised with archaistic scrolls. Its curly tail swept<br />

back up over its back.<br />

7024 An extremely fine and important dark green<br />

jade carving of a mythical beast, “Bixie”<br />

Superbly carved from a flat stone, the mythical beast lies on its<br />

well defined clawed paws, facing forward, with a grinning mouth<br />

and intense oval eyes, framed by striated brows. Its back decorated<br />

with both incised archaic motifs and in low relief archaic scrolls,<br />

with a bifurcate tail, ending in a smooth curl. Calcified in some<br />

areas indicating great age.<br />

7027 Magnificent light green-grey jade carving<br />

of a horse<br />

Recumbent, with its hooved legs tucked neatly beneath<br />

its powerful body. Its head forward with bold eyes and<br />

flared nostrils and its mane reaching over its neck to its<br />

back in a smooth arc. Its hips and shoulders emphasised<br />

with incised archaic curling motifs. Green jade mottled<br />

with brown in places.<br />

jade carved mythical beast shaped jar<br />

Resembling a ram facing forward, recumbent with two<br />

curved horns and wrinkled snout, baring its teeth. With<br />

two wings and a twisting tail sweeping over its hind legs.<br />

Decorated with incised archaic scrolls. The stone of the<br />

pale tone with strands of darker marbling. Further hollowed<br />

and pierced with and aperture on its back. Used to<br />

hold water for cleaning of paintbrushes during writing.<br />

headed belt hook<br />

With dragons heads on either side of the shaft. Delicately<br />

decorated holes on the sides and top of the shaft, in curbing<br />

motifs amongst incised cross-cross lines and round<br />

knobs. The almost transparent green jade mottled with<br />

black in of the Warring States areas. The underside<br />

coloured creamy white due to calcination.<br />

jade cup<br />

Finely carved with a globular body and pronounced rim,<br />

incised with a double-line band, with a wide circular<br />

opening and three double looped handles. The sides<br />

decorated with incised figures of a bird with a curved<br />

beak, oval eyes, crossed tail and two crude feet.<br />

jade seal<br />

Of square form, the top decorated with incised Taotie<br />

mask, the sides engraved with archaic texts, the underside<br />

bearing a seal in formal scripture. The jade stone calcified<br />

in some areas and mottled with brown.<br />

Resembling a lion or tiger, lying on its paws. Its back and<br />

side decorated with its ‘flaming’ tail. The head with two<br />

open mouth.<br />

7033 A finely carved white jade mythical beast,<br />

“Bixie”<br />

Recumbent, with its clawed paws tucked beneath its<br />

body, its right front paw reclined back, its head raised,<br />

slightly turned to the left, with large grinning mouth and<br />

deep-set eyes framed by striated brows. It’s back decorated<br />

with incised lame-like motifs, with a bony bifurcate<br />

tail, ending in a curl. The stone of the pale tone with<br />

strands of darker marbling.<br />

on its back<br />

Recumbent, its feet tucked neatly beneath its body, with<br />

tripod ritual rood vessel “Ding”<br />

The rounded sides supported by three open moulded dragon-shaped<br />

legs, with two upright loop handles issuing from the lipped rim. The<br />

body decorated with a band of stylized dragons between two bands<br />

of small circles, characteristic of the period, with a pictograph of a<br />

Chariot on the belly (a family emblem). Good green patina.<br />

The tri-lobe body decorated with three Taotie masks on an<br />

incised leiwen ground, merging into three hollow cylindrical<br />

legs. The body tapering at the shoulders to a cylinder<br />

neck cast with a broad band of decorative dragons between<br />

two rings, with everted rim with two upright loop handles.<br />
