Dear Parishioners and Friends of St. Patrick-St. Anthony<br />
and the Franciscan Center <strong>for</strong> Urban Ministry,<br />
May the Lord give you peace.<br />
I thank you <strong>for</strong> your support of our 23rd annual Fr. Andrew <strong>Golf</strong><br />
Tournament. I hope you had a wonderful day and are content with your<br />
low score. This remarkable event supports a wide diversity of ministries<br />
from Art to Social Justice. One significant dimension is our care <strong>for</strong> the<br />
hungry and poor who find their way to our doors. Our sandwich ministry<br />
provides not just sandwiches but also compassion and hospitality. This<br />
ministry is provided every day. I am grateful to you <strong>for</strong> your support as well<br />
as <strong>for</strong> the countless ministers who make the sandwiches and those who<br />
greet and offer the sandwiches. Your support also helps to meet the needs<br />
of those who have lost everything including identification/ social security<br />
cards, those who are newly released from jail (often with only the clothes<br />
worn while incarcerated) or parents who are struggling to meet the basic<br />
needs of their families. In their name, I thank you <strong>for</strong> your participation.<br />
This past year we were able to provide temporary housing <strong>for</strong> families from<br />
Puerto Rico displaced by Hurricane Maria. It was great to hear children’s<br />
voices coming from Catherine’s Place and to see a school bus pull up in<br />
front of the Franciscan Center. Your support makes this possible. I thank<br />
you.<br />
I thank our <strong>Golf</strong> Committee <strong>for</strong> the extraordinary work of making this day<br />
happen, the many folks who sold or bought raffle tickets, ads, played or<br />
joined us <strong>for</strong> dinner and our auction.<br />
I especially thank Scot Haney <strong>for</strong> being our Auctioneer!<br />

The Fr. Andrew Charity <strong>Golf</strong> Tournament is celebrating its 23 rd<br />
anniversary this year. Through the work of our tireless<br />
volunteers and the generosity of countless individuals,<br />
businesses and foundations, The Fr. Andrew Charity <strong>Golf</strong><br />
Tournament has raised hundreds of thousands of dollars to<br />
support the work of the Franciscan Center <strong>for</strong> Urban Ministry.<br />
It’s more than just a lot of sandwiches and we thank you <strong>for</strong><br />

during the coldest winter nights when shelters are at capacity;<br />
Adventure Saturday Mentor Program - a place <strong>for</strong> children from<br />
Hart<strong>for</strong>d’s North End to have fun through various cultural and<br />
social experiences;<br />
The Wellness Center on Church Street - a provider of free health<br />
services relating to counseling, nutrition, and social work to<br />
Sandwich Program, Manna Soup Kitchen, and the Friendship<br />
Center clients;<br />
Bread <strong>for</strong> the Poor Program - which not only serves sandwiches<br />
to hungry men, women and children seven days a week, 52<br />
weeks a year, but also provides rental assistance, bus fare,<br />
hand-warmers, socks, gloves, hats, personal care items and<br />
much more.
