To benefit
The Franciscan Center
for Urban Ministry
Note from Fr. Tom
Dear Parishioners and Friends of St. Patrick-St. Anthony
and the Franciscan Center for Urban Ministry,
May the Lord give you peace.
I thank you for your support of our 23rd annual Fr. Andrew Golf
Tournament. I hope you had a wonderful day and are content with your
low score. This remarkable event supports a wide diversity of ministries
from Art to Social Justice. One significant dimension is our care for the
hungry and poor who find their way to our doors. Our sandwich ministry
provides not just sandwiches but also compassion and hospitality. This
ministry is provided every day. I am grateful to you for your support as well
as for the countless ministers who make the sandwiches and those who
greet and offer the sandwiches. Your support also helps to meet the needs
of those who have lost everything including identification/ social security
cards, those who are newly released from jail (often with only the clothes
worn while incarcerated) or parents who are struggling to meet the basic
needs of their families. In their name, I thank you for your participation.
This past year we were able to provide temporary housing for families from
Puerto Rico displaced by Hurricane Maria. It was great to hear children’s
voices coming from Catherine’s Place and to see a school bus pull up in
front of the Franciscan Center. Your support makes this possible. I thank
you.
I thank our Golf Committee for the extraordinary work of making this day
happen, the many folks who sold or bought raffle tickets, ads, played or
joined us for dinner and our auction.
I especially thank Scot Haney for being our Auctioneer!
I thank you.
Peace and all good,
Fr. Tom Gallagher, ofm

Chairman’s Letter
Dear Sponsors, Golfers and Friends,
The Fr. Andrew Charity Golf Tournament is celebrating its 23 rd
anniversary this year. Through the work of our tireless
volunteers and the generosity of countless individuals,
businesses and foundations, The Fr. Andrew Charity Golf
Tournament has raised hundreds of thousands of dollars to
support the work of the Franciscan Center for Urban Ministry.
It’s more than just a lot of sandwiches and we thank you for
making that happen! We are so blessed to be part of this
incredibly welcoming church and community. We are deeply
thankful for your commitment and generosity that supports
and sustains The Center and all who benefit from its services.
Our sponsor book acknowledges many businesses and
individuals who have participated year after year in the
support of our event. Please take time to browse through this
sponsor book and offer your thanks and support to these
businesses and individuals who have so generously contributed
to this event.
Thank you all so very much!
Peace,
Barbara Theurkauf

Fr. Andrew,
Your faithful, “welcoming” presence was a
gift to so many of us. It is greatly missed but
still felt!
Thank you for your presence in all the “small
things” we forget, like a coffee break!

Peace Prayer for 2018
- Pope Francis
Lord, make us instruments of your peace.
Help us to recognize the evil latent in a communication
that does not build communion.
Help us to remove the venom from our judgements.
Help us to speak about others as
our brothers and sisters.
You are faithful and trustworthy;
May our words be seeds of goodness for the world:
Where there is shouting, let us practice listening.
Where there is confusion, let us inspire harmony;
Where there is ambiguity, let us bring clarity;
Where there is exclusion, let us off solidarity;
Where there is sensationalism, let us use sobriety;
Where there is superficiality, let us raise real questions;
Where there is prejudice, let us awaken trust;
Where there is hostility, let us bring respect;
Where there is falsehood, let us bring truth.
Amen

Matthew James Pearce
August 8, 1984—January 28, 2017
We do not need a special day to bring you to our minds.
The days we do not think of you are very hard to find.
Each morning when we awake we know that you are gone.
And no one knows the heartache as we try to carry on.
Our hearts still ache with sadness and secret tears still flow.
What it meant to lose you no one will ever know.
Our thoughts are always with you, your place no one can fill.
In life we loved you dearly; in death we love you still.
There will always to be a heartache, and often a silent tear.
But always a precious memory of the days when you were
here.
If tears would make a staircase, and heartaches make a lane,
We'd walk the path to heaven and bring you home again.
We hold you close within our hearts; and there you will remain,
To walk with us throughout our lives until we meet again.
Our family chain is broken now, and nothing seems the same,
But as God calls us one by one, the chain will link again.
