Hunloke Park Primary School

Our school’s special visitors

THE Mayor and Mayoress of Chesterfield, Coun Stuart Brittain and Mrs Anne

Brittain, came to school recently. They visited the whole school in Assembly

and then met with our School Parliament.

We enjoyed speaking with them and asking questions. We found out all about

their role and all the things they have to do during their year in office.

The Three Bad Wolves

ONCE upon a time there were three bad wolves who wanted to cross a bridge

to go to the forest where Grandma lived. But under the bridge there was an

ugly troll that would not let anyone cross his bridge.

One day, the three bad wolves had an idea.

Stomp! Stomp! Stomp! went the Little Wolf over the bridge.

“Who’s that stomp stomping over my bridge?” said the troll.

“It is only me, Little Wolf. Don’t eat me, eat my medium brother coming

next.

The ugly troll let him across.

Stomp! Stomp! Stomp! went the Medium Wolf over the bridge.

“Who’s that stomp stomping over my bridge?” said the troll.

“It is only me, Medium Wolf. Don’t eat me, eat my big brother coming next.”

The ugly troll let him across.

Stomp! Stomp! Stomp! went the Big Wolf over the bridge.

“Who’s that Stomp stomping over my bridge?” said the troll.

“It is only me, Big Wolf.”

The Big

Wolf huffed

and puffed

and blew the

ugly troll off

the bridge.

The Big

Wolf went to

join his

brothers in

the woods

where they

made their

way to

Grandma’s

cottage. They

lived happily

ever after…

or did they?

Class

IN Assembly, we had a visit from Jane Hudson, a producer

for ‘Emmerdale’. Her job as a producer is looking after

‘Emmerdale’ and organising everything. She told us how to

make a storyline and we all became story-liners. It was so

much fun, and our Assembly got so loud that Mrs Murphy

heard us discussing our ideas and she thought we were

being naughty! Actually, Mrs Hudson was encouraging us to

share our ideas without having to put our hands up. We

were the writers and created our own characters – Cyril

the squirrel and Geoff the flying pig. The story, however, did

not have a happy end because we are all cruel!

Silly Science

YEAR 4 had a visit from Silly Science on World Book Day.

Firstly, the scientist taught us how to handle fire safely.

Some of us volunteered to help and we had to put on a fireproof

glove and hold some cotton wool. Then the scientist

set fire to the cotton wool and it disappeared – it was

amazing!

Isabelle and George

We were taught how to make things explode using fuel,

oxygen and heat. We were shown how it is possible to beat

gravity for a small amount of time. Dylan and Margot

The scientist went outside and put some Mentos into Diet

Coke to show us how thrust works and how the pressure of

bubbles rise and explode. I really enjoyed all of the cool

experiments and it made science really fun and interesting.
